Numpty public charging question

I've had my M3 for over a year now but always charged it at home and have never needed used a public charger. Going on a longer journey this week that will need a mid way top up. Do I need to set up any sort of account before I'm out and about needing to use the supercharger network or can I just turn up and start charging and then pay with a card?

Setup a payment method in your Tesla account and then you can just plug it in, simple as that :-)

Well you can plug it in to a Tesla Supercharger that way at least. If you need to use any other charger then use the app Zap Map to find the most suitable charger en route and check you have whatever app/cable etc the charger needs.
