As with the poster above it feels a bit ordinary just on the commute however that can be an advantage on longer journeys and you get quite a few looks and dropped jaws from pedestrians and motorists that remind you the car might be a bit special but as soon as you open it up on a country road that’s when it comes into its own and you realise that you’ve made the right decision.
I reckon feeling ordinary on the commute is actually a strength of the car because this is where a compromise is usually made.Dropped jaws from pedestrians is probably overstretching a bit because the majority will view it as any other 3 door hatchback.
I am simply calling a spade a spade here, but not disrespecting the car in any way.

Hence “a few” which are clearly people who know.
The looks weren't the issue, just the "dropped jaws".There will be people who know what cars they are looking at, but the overall majority will only recognise a colour as the distinguishing feature..
Again I must stress that I am not disrespecting the car in any way.

Maybe if/when you get one you’ll realise what I’m on about. I’m not here to bullst, the best one yet was a mid 30’s chap in his Hyundai Ioniq think his jaw fell out of the window and touched the floor. Looks like white ones are faster than black ones (all things being equal!) !!!!!!!!!dotty said:
I actually felt nervous watching that. Did they know the other Yaris? Nearly climbed into their boot a few times.Dreadful lines from the black Yaris too, all over the place. It's clearly a car that doesn't punish rough driving!

I totally appreciate what you mean because I was one of the very first owners of a model that provoked this type of reaction...but I honestly believe that the majority will not perceive the Yaris GR to be any different than say a Fiesta ST.Now however much we are outraged at this (myself included), it is a fact nonetheless.
Once again....the Yaris GR is an awesome machine.

For the 3rd time I’m not on about the majority I’m on about “a few” who clearly knew what the car was about as echoed by another member above!
You used the words "dropped jaws from pedestrians", so I picked up on this point and simply pointed out that it would not be the majority reaction. cowboyengineer said:
I turned my mirror 90degrees. Meant I couldn’t see out the back which you can’t really anyway. But I could see properly out the front. I’m in South Africa for 6 months so sold mine before I left and have another coming in august.
You can now buy a stubby arm for the mirror which lifts it up a couple of inches and seat rails (and nee seats) to lower the driver seat. Both of which I will buy for my new one!

Has anyone else found there car has been stuck at Portbury for nearly a month?
I had no update from MyT app to say it had landed but I did my daily check MyT check and saw it had landed on the 9th of Feb. Last I heard from Toyota Online was on the 26th of Jan saying it would be ready 2nd of March.
I received a call from my nominated dealer a few days ago saying they had expected it 2nd and would let me know as soon as it arrives.
The MyT app still shows it as going Derby next before going to my dealer.

The app should show portbury then it will change to Derby and then I think it shows portbury again which is actually it going to the dealer before showing as at the dealer. Regarding running in. Whilst not the same car, I thrashed my new 172 cup from 6 miles. It went on to north of 150k on the same clutch and my brother took it to 204k before he moved it on. Still pulled like a train!
Thats good effort on the mileage, how long did it take to reach that milestone?Gassing Station | Toyota | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
