My dealer has told me no more cars. I'd be interested in knowing who has told you about 2023 production.

Hi,

I’m new to the YGR conversation but have watched and read with interest the posts and other media input for what on papers looks a great car.

I’m not in a rush to buy and understand Toyota will be opening a new order book for 2023 deliveries next month.

Would anyone know yet whether the ‘23 cars will be offered in the same spec and/or if there is any word on Toyota maybe offering a CP Lux model with the HUD, sensors and heated accessories as an option? I have read about the potential GRMN model which isn’t of interest.

Any insight whilst awaiting the new order book to open would be great to hear.

Thanks
There is no 2023 order book. Not sure where you’ve read that?

All signs suggest that the last cars are due to be built in September/October based on run number of the original 25k and GRMN build dates.

Last week the thousands on the UK waiting list got contacted by Toyota UK (remember this list started in June/July 2021 and closed last month) the first 500-1000 I believe we’re given their position on the list with those after not given a number. They had the option to stay on the list or they would be removed:

We're very sorry to inform you that due to unprecedented demand, GR Yaris has now sold out for 2022.

You're #7# on the waiting list, click on the link below to stay on the waiting list until 2023 and we will update you early next year with information on availability.
It is believed this is still to supply cancelled orders to those who want a car.

If the list were to reopen I suspect you would still miss out based on the demand from the old list.

I’d be interested to hear where this came from.

Even Toyota GB don’t have any information and their advice (as of yesterday) is to just keep looking out for news in the press.

In regards to your question of if dealerships should be taking orders for this model, I believe they were waiting (along with customers) for clarification on if any further productions was going ahead and would take the orders to "get in the queue" so to speak.

It really is unfortunate that at the moment the order book is closed but this model has proven to be extremely popular. So much so, that all our production allocation has been filled for the foreseeable future and at this stage we have no other information of when we can supply this model.

I know this will come as disappointing news but please continue to check our website for when orders will be open on the below link.

Thank you for contacting Toyota GB.

Kind regards,

As I understand it:
1) No new order book. If you don't have a confirmed order you will not get a new GRY now. There is a waiting list but again, if you're not on it your chances of getting a car are virtually zero.
2) The GRMN has been confirmed but is Japan only special edition. All models were allocated through a lottery that's now closed (something like 10,000 applications for 500 cars). They will be the last GRY rolling out of Motomachi, then they will move onto making the GR Corolla.

So after 11,000 miles my clutch is starting to slip, so time for a replacement.

It seems the stock clutch is a weak point so upgrading it while having to change it anyway seems sensible.

Has anyone replaced theirs with a stronger third party option? Any recommendations?

Surely 11k miles isn't a reasonable clutch life? How have you been using the car?

Just daily driving with the odd blast plus 3 track days. But in the first few months I had it I was guilty a bunch of times of not pulling right out of the clutch on launch to prevent a stall (like I always had to in FWD cars), it took me a bit of time to learn to pull right out on launch, I imagine that first few months probably took a huge chunk out of the lifespan of the clutch.

Is that an Indian special or maybe one with 1970's care home add ons?

A quick question, forgive me if it’s been answered a hundred times over already. How long after landing at Bristol docks have people had to wait for delivery? I think mine is on the Virgo Leader which is due to dock tonight. Quite excited to finally drive it.

I'm a sad fker so tracked mine all the way. Bare in mind mine docked just before Xmas so I'd allow a couple of weeks delay as a result but the timeline for mine landing in the UK and being delivered is as follows:

19 Dec 21 - Arrived at Portbury
20 Dec 21 - 'In Transit'
04 Jan 22 - 'Payment due' notification
06 Jan 22 - 'In Transit - Derbyshire'
13 Jan 22 - 'Arrived at dealer'
19 Jan 22 - Finance docs signed
26 Jan 22 - TOOK DELIVERY

Cool, thanks for that. I wouldn’t be upset if it took a little while, delivery has flip flopped but I’d been planning on Sept/Oct so much like the arrival of a slightly premature child there’s some frantic preparation required.

So 25,000 is about 5k more than I have on the run list however that’s 2 months behind the curve and we were running on I think 700+ a month produced.

However it feels more a good by than we’re producing more however who knows.

It certainly sounds like they’re winding down production. How many do we think are the JDM 1.5 hybrid version?

I think the UK have had a very healthy allocation of GRY compared to how many produced.

Well it’s arrived at long bloody last.

What a little weapon, real world roads feels mightily fast in gear and phenomenal grip.

Shall see how it comes with real world trundling day to day, but seems to be as everyone has said an absolute gem.
