Rather than drive on pure paddle mode I found myself driving in auto and just using the paddles when I fancied it?

I’ve found if it’s a country road and I’m pushing on I’ll go to the paddles but most of the time it’s auto I’ve also found myself using normal/eco for commuting as it likes to use the higher gears and shifts earlier.

The best demo of the auto GR Yaris at the Nurburgring, that I have seen so far:
Despite what VBH says it doesn't look like the auto hinders performance at all

Not seen any opinions that Auto hinders the performance more that it detracts from the driver experience.

Vicki was running the gearbox in normal, same as another English review from a few months ago and I suspect Harry Metcalfes son on his quick report.

When you watch the above video or also Blitz Japan have a video where race drivers are saying it’s a great box.

Mine has had some work this week.

Eventuri intake and engine cover?

Yes. Really impressive bit of kit and adds a decent amount of power.

I doubt the auto is a hindrance, but it does remove that level of input a lot crave. I personally feel the car is so light and offers a lot of feedback that the manual suits the car. The extra 30hp would be welcome.
Personal preference. Simple as that.

You'd think so but unforunately not obvious to the hundreds of millions who will insist their choice is better than yours, even with most subjective matters.

That’s human nature - and why we end up fighting wars. As I’ve tried to teach my son, try things for himself and make his own informed decision. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

The original post I replied to was regarding VBH preferring the manual, as it removes a level of input she likes. One must remember that she can pedal a car, so it didn’t come as a surprise

Pistonheads is very bad for this lots of opinion from those that haven’t tried things, or its latest iteration. Think cerbLee continually complaining about the Yaris 3 pot yet hasn’t driven one in the 4 years he’s done so, or threads about driver aids where people once used cruise control on their horse and cart and it was bad so it means it’s still bad. And the same goes for autos just because one is bad doesn’t mean all are.

Regarding the original post and a surprise the Dale Lomas video I posted (for those that don’t know the old ring taxi driver for the jaguars and numerous Nurburgring 24hr races and instructing) has this to say about it:

So just because they can pedal something don’t assume all will prefer the manual for their use.

Rally cars and race cars don't have autos.

Current WRC cars aren't even allowed a paddle shift manual, it's a manual lever.

F1 cars are a paddle shift manual, any auto function is illegal.

Yeah I think that’s just a poor use of words but the point he’s making is they’re not changing gears with a clutch and a h pattern.

It's nice looking but the cost!

The mst v.2 I've ordered replaces the radiator cover, too, in order to double the size of the intake. Looks oem.

I don't really disagree but when on another thread people are relaxed about an £80K Kia SUV...

If you re-read my response you’ll see I was referring to VBH’s preference for the manual, which I understand as she enjoys the act of actually driving the car. I’m not sure why you’re suggesting I’m claiming ALL will share the same consensus.

I’m sure the auto is a good option, for me, the GR is a nippy little B road blaster so the manual suits my own needs.

Yes I'd agree with that it's all relative but Toyota UK also shouldn't be allowing this overpricing - especially an approved used car.

Yep it’s the same advert as before. This isn’t a car for sale it’s the dealer demo car which cannot be sold for 18 months.

Some dealer thinking it will drive some sales calls.

The thing is why put on a stupid sticker price when even those with a few k of overs added are not selling!
There is no need to pay more than £50k for a new one and come spring imo list will be achievable for a new car
