hi guys, recently got my first honda (FN2 type r) and am loving it, however when i drove today my rear right wheel started making a strange noise, it screeches when i apply the brakes and the noise sometimes stays afterwards when driving without braking. however if braking hard the noise does not happen, only after light braking. does anybody have any ideas what this could be? the car supposedly had a full service around 2k miles ago so surely a wearing brake pad would have been noted?
cheers

Check there isn't a stone caught in the rear disc guard.

If the car was serviced and then parked up for weeks before being sold you may have a sticky brake calliper which can easy chew through a set of brand new pads in significantly less than 2000 miles. It's usually just the slider pins that need a good clean up and some fresh grease. Brand new ones are £15 with new rubber seals and nuts if it turns out your existing ones are too manky and not worth saving.

Jack the car up an spin the rear wheel with the handbrake off, then with handbrake on a click & check how much drag there is. fn2 rear brake pads also have a wear indicator on them which when it starts scrubbing against the disc, it squeaks.
