I believe that to be the case. I may have one of a few cars that had the screen replaced before the root cause was determined. Or it was incompetence. Anyway, I think cars built from late '21/2022 will not have experienced this. Don't quote me though, my research is patchy & anecdotal

Does that total number include all variants, including "special editions"?

I interpret that as 28701 includes all variants including special editions.
