I think black wheels are due to go out of fashion, along with those popping exhausts and that nardo grey colour.
I don’t get flat grey at all! Also don’t like black wheels and stupid pops and bangs exhausts. It’s not a group A rally car(with anti-lag)!

Agree I have never understood the popularity of black wheels as they completely mask the wheel design in most lights and look so afterthought 'Halfords'.

I looked at that one when I was at Tom Hartley's last week. Not sure about the black wheels with Seneca (i think I am off black wheels full stop). Reminded me alot of my Evora
That Seneca Tom Hartley car with Ice Grey leather is a brave combo. Doesn't quite work imo.

Seneca looks so much better with the diamond cuts or silver wheels imo but each to their own.

Oakmere Lotus at Northwich have a similar launch spec Seneca car to the one sold (but again with black wheels) at £90k but this also appears to have been sold but is still listed on AT. They also sold a Shadow car in a matter of days at £90k in Feb.

Interesting that UK prices have risen 6% but US prices have risen over 12% for the FE from $93900 to $105400.

I think that Lotus are considered to be more exotic in the US than they are here - nit helped by Clarkson like comments about turnip farmers

Not sure why, but I imagine it's something a bit like this over there:

A review from someone who placed a deposit.

It’s one of the most positive Emira reviews out there which is nice. It could well be that this later car drives better than the first batch given to journalists. It’s always good to get a non-UK perspective as well as there is quite a lot of “group think” among UK reviewers and there is often UK specific hype around cars like the GR Yaris and a few others. Just like there is North American hype around some other cars of course.

What surprised me was them calling it a mix between a Miata and a Porsche. I never got the sense that the Emira is a playful car? Other than the drivetrain being a bit meh, this for me was always the downer with the car (based on reviews). If it is actually playful and much more engaging than a Porsche then that changes everything.

I’m reliably informed Lotus carried on doing a fair bit of final tuning work after the initial reviews

Also one of the consistent comments (and I’ve said it too) is about the steering not being quite as talkative. One thing that is significantly better than the Evora is the tracking stability (basically tramlining).

I think it’s a trade off that is more about geo settings than any fundamental issue with the car. There were a few other associated compromises to the Geo on the Evora too like uneven tyre wear that a conquest Porsche buyer would never put up with.

Has anyone driven an Emira and a V8 Vantage?

Are they similar?

They're similar in weight, power and both mechanical so wonder if they drive the same.

I moved to a 981Spyder from a 410 Exige, once the geo was “sorted” it drove beautifully but chewed tyres.

I didn’t find tramlining an issue with either of my Evoras

When I bought my second Evora I test drove a vantage because I thought I wanted one. After the test drive I bought a newer Evora. The Aston just doesn’t drive anywhere as well.

It requires a different driving style. In some ways it is more playful than the Evora, but in an old school way. I would agree that the Evora is a better drive, but not necessarily a better car.

On the subject of it being playful at the rear, this was mentioned on the test drive that the rear was lively. I got the impression it was more so than expected.

Also apparently one punter spun out on his test drive!

Now I don't expect the driver aids to be foolproof, but I thought that it was supposed to be really good on the Emira and keep the rear in check.

I didn't drive it fast enough to test the rear traction though.

TBH I really wanted to like the Aston, but it was so heavy and inert in comparison with the Evora. I could see it as a GT but just couldn’t imagine it being anywhere near as enjoyable crossing the Pyrenees or in the Picos

It didn’t bother me in either of mine but it was there, ETA to clarify didn’t properly tramline as such but tramlines did pull the front of the car such that you had to correct the steering

Me too, I’ll probably tweak the geo on mine to get it back!
