Which PH'ers have placed a deposit on an Emira?

On the subject of it being playful at the rear, this was mentioned on the test drive that the rear was lively. I got the impression it was more so than expected.
Also apparently one punter spun out on his test drive!
Now I don't expect the driver aids to be foolproof, but I thought that it was supposed to be really good on the Emira and keep the rear in check.
I didn't drive it fast enough to test the rear traction though.
I like the sound of that. It’s good if the stability and/or traction control can come to the rescue but I guess it’s not always possible. Also apparently one punter spun out on his test drive!

I posted a slightly grumpy message here a few weeks ago when I received the price increase email from Lotus but I deleted it the following day as I didn't want to sound like I was whingeing, and also because I was dead set on an Emira and didn't want the email to annoy me. I got a test drive last week and thought I would post some happy news.
I originally specced a Verdant car but changed my mind just before the price increase because having seen them for sale online on Autotrader and eBay I decided it was too dark to show off the curves. My test drive was at Glasgow Lotus and they happened to have all colours outside bar the yellow. I want my car to look fairly understated so it was great to be able to compare them in real life:
For me the green was indeed too dark and while the red was nice, Nimbus grey stood out for me as the right balance of subtlety while still showing off the curves. If this was only going to be a weekend toy I would love the blue:
...but that shade of blue has become far too common lately and is also a bit shouty for me.
My test drive was in the Nimbus one and I have to say that I loved it. Lotus Glasgow were fantastic - really friendly and accommodating, and I had a great 40 minutes out with the car. I was asked not to exceed 4k as the car had just under 1,000 miles on it and I was largely compliant except when I forgot - and my chaperone was fine with that. I bogged up a couple of gear changes while blipping the throttle, which he was very forgiving of! I am absolutely no driving god and he was a superb passenger, encouraging me to boot it round some fun corners even thought it was damp and about 6 degrees. The car did produce a little wiggle while on quite heavy throttle in 3rd at the apex on one bend and it was very forgiving.
My thoughts, bearing in mind all my fast road experience has been in AWD turbo cars:
Power delivery is very linear - I've had a supercharged car before and it was roughly as expected.
400 bhp feels about right - I could mash the throttle and not feel like the horizon was coming up too quickly (which it did in the RS6).
At the limit I got some indications that the road was damp and cold but the message from the car was delivered gently.
The steering was sublime - but I'm coming from something that felt dead.
There was no noticeable tram lining.
The car was wide, but felt narrow on the road. Passing parked cars was not an issue.
The interior noise would be acceptable for Mrs w1bbles - a critical test.
In Sport mode the burble on the overrun was nice but unobtrusive.
The gearshift was mechanical but great - reminded me of the first Subaru Impreza we had about 25 years ago.
Seats were fine (didn't notice).
Visibility was about the same as our daily driver Tesla Model Y with its pokey rear window.
Pedals were fine but I was wearing narrow shoes intentionally.
The clutch has a long travel and I had to move the seat quite far forward as I have short legs, but it was fine on the drive.
Am I going to keep my order in? 100% yes. Absolutely loved it.

manual blip is more rewarding
But rather hard to do!Bispal said:
Is the Toyota V6 still not rev matching properly on downshifts like it did in some Exiges / Evoras? When you go to blip the throttle during a gear change is it un-responsive or over-responsive with no consistency? Does it also still cut power when left foot braking?
In the Evoras it used to be the exhaust valve opening, sticking it in Sport mode used to fix it as it kept the valve openNot noticed as obvious a shift in throttle response in my car, although when brand new it did do that sort of ‘double blip’ when you gave it a prod for a downshift. Haven’t noticed it since my first (few hundred mile) journey
My son who put down a £4K deposit February last year has just been emailed by Lotus with an invite to configure his Emira. He was originally told that delivery of his i4 would not be until the second quarter of 2024 and I wonder whether they still think he wants the 3.5 litre model. He tried contacting them for clarification and after waiting for 30 minutes pushed the 0 button for a call back (place in queue apparently remains the same). Three hours later he has not received a call back so any call back will now, I guess, be tomorrow. To progress his reservation he has to confirm his configuration by 12 pm 29/03/23.

I had the same email and, according to the FB forums, so did a lot of other people who have deposits down, including some who have only had deposits down for a few weeks.A few theories as to why but in the meantime I have apparently got until 26th to spec mine and I haven't even seen a Magma or Nimbus in the flesh. If anyone knows or any Nimbus or Magma cars in or near East Sussex and/or white leather interior, please let me know, I sort of need to see them before deciding what to spec!
