Discounted stock Emiras...
Discussion
Here is something I wish to share that I just posted in the other heavily discounted Emiras thread.....!
"Just want to share the following as its factual & you can make your own mind up if you want to buy from a main dealer or elsewhere......
1: V5C never turned up after almost 6 weeks...thought it might be lost in the post! Silly me for being so naive! It was never ever sent in the first place!
2: Last week went through the replacement process printing out then sending to DVLA the V62 form along with the required £25 cheque (only payment they accept or postal order!).
3: This morning 8am called DVLA hotline to see when I could expect my replacement V5C. Got put through to a very nice lady who told me a few interesting things.....
4: After confirming she had my V62 form & confirming when I would expect to receive it (not for at least another 2 weeks due to a massive backlog & limited resource to process it all!!).
She then proceeded to kindly explain many non main dealers no longer even bother sending the V5C form at all...they do not even bother so after the buyer has waited long enough they look at the replacement procedure process & have to go through that like I am right now. I must stress this can only be done the old fashioned way via post in writing there is no electronic way to do this further adding to the delays.
If you were handed the V5C form at point of sale then yes you can get it way faster (usually within 5 working days) but for some reason its not being handed over at point of sale (I was told it would be taken care of when I asked for it after they had the cleared funds for my Emira.....).
So that and not being given a 2nd keyfob are 2 things to very carefully consider before buying a wonderful looking Emira from your dealer of choice!!! ( I was told it had 2 keys...when I went to collect mine & drive all the way back to London was told it only had 1 keyfob! should have walked away there & then but seduced by the car & the shiny graphene ceramic coating I had paid extra for!!)."

If the 'dealer' is reading this thread they must be gutted the amount of business lost already never mind in the future because of this episode.
They won’t care, but I definitely wouldn’t go near them irrespective of car. What kind of shambles of an outfit are they when they tell someone 2 keys and once they have over a barrel say one key. Fk that.NRG1976 said:

Doubt they care at all I mean they never had the courtesy to respond to me! No wonder they are so cheap is all I can say! When I dump my i4 on the market in 2 weeks its going to be the cheapest i4 in the UK so that will cost them thousands as when prospective buyers see how little I am selling mine for (once the legendary V5C eventually arrives!) doubt there will be any rush to buy their stock at current prices! All they had to do was buy mine back minus the deposit would have given them a healthy £6K profit...instead its costing me closer to £10K by the time I can sell it & them a lot more as mine being the cheapest means they are going to have to drop their prices again & again............!
Leaving aside the negativity around the lack of 2nd keys (hassle to get one of those buying a replacement is just the start then you have to find & book a main dealer who wants to spend the time coding the key for you......still looking few seem to want to do that job as minimal £££ in it for them!). No wonder Lotus Escalation have had some many complaints about this reseller (dealer is not a word I would use as that would imply dealer services on site like servicing, mechanics etc etc).

They hold £22m worth of stock and have a turnover of over £100m.
Think I’ve said before, I once tried to buy a Giulia QV from them but just talking on the phone had my spidey senses going haywire.
Glad I swerved them.

They’ve got a fantastic looking Magma Red i4 with 400 miles which I would possibly take a chance on with any other dealer. After the horror stories on other forums and the issues you’ve had I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.

You've got your price. Everybody has their price. Auto 100 have £20m worth of stock. Bad news travels. That said, a nice Nimbus at Lotus Kent and a nice magma at decent dealer have been sitting there a while. I think they are all 2023, so not like the 2022 units with soon to expire Lotus warranty (a few of those still over £65k on the market!!)
Maybe the market is a) exhausted for V6's and b) those who want one feel £60k is toppy right now.

One key, laughable!! Appearing to take no responsibility for some of the lemons is the bigger issue. I appreciate you’ve purchased a cracking looking car and hopefully a good ‘un. I’d have more confidence buying the 350 Sport Exige that’s just appeared.
I wouldn’t call buying a 60K Lotus the opportunity of a lifetime but each to their own.

Hmm.... that 400 mile model does not exist or is stuck somewhere in the system I enquired about that was told it was not ready...I was given evasive short answers.....that was almost 2 months ago......its not in their main warehouse....suspect its awaiting parts like new body panels....buyer beware regardless do not just take my word for it! Several of the used Emira have been back & forth to JCT 600 for warranty work......Lots of people have had issues if their Emira was not without fault and they do not offer test drives either so ensure you can live with the Sports chassis by testing on various road surfaces! They’ve got a fantastic looking Magma Red i4 with 400 miles which I would possibly take a chance on with any other dealer. Ensure you get one with a 2nd working keyfob & V5C.
Inspect every body panel carefully in different lighting conditions. Easy to miss the bubbling these cars are dazzling & the paintwork is excellent.
Ensure it has the latest control unit firmware updates already applied (long waiting list to get these if you buy from a non main dealer expect back of the queue treatment!).
Mine had no faults but the amount of hassle to get a 2nd keyfob & V5C replacement plus back of the queue treatment for the firmware updates & harsh Sports chassis mean its going to be sold soon as the V5C replacement arrives in under 2 weeks!
Lotus should really open a small unit at Hethel just to deal with the issues some of these used heavily discounted Emiras are having to ensure its a positive experience & that would not even be hard for them to do so except they are cost cutting.....
Paying more & buying from a main dealer is the best way to have a decent experience (although there are even horror stories about some of those even recent purchases....!). Remember all warranty work is covered by Lotus your unlikely to get much support from a non official dealer & back of the queue treatment...

Your spidey senses served you well mine had no faults I got lucky I guess...but lack of aftersales support & not even willing to swap for a more comfortable chassis despite me offering a few K to help them with their admin LOL!

Several people have not had a great experience on not just Emira but other more expensive marques......I guess if its just a giant warehouse full of exotica & does not really offer traditional dealer services (apart from finance packages) one could argue its just a reseller not a proper dealer at all......!
Until you buy an Emira its not easy to appreciate just how much support you actually need if you only have 1 keyfob & need the firmware updates.....

I noticed that, several of those V6's have stuck. I have been following the ones with the touring set up and the two green and the magma ones have been dropping price. I wonder if these are Lotus problem children.

Go main dealer for the support & firmware updates otherwise be prepared for long waits. Its self explanatory if the car is non main dealer how much support you will actually receive............& back of the queue treatment means literally you will be waiting 2-3 months for an appointment for firmware updates...then hope you do not get bumped further back by more recent cars (sold by them) going back for further warranty work ahead of you. That said, a nice Nimbus at Lotus Kent and a nice magma at decent dealer have been sitting there a while. I think there are only a handful of suitably qualified to work on the Emira Lotus main dealers in all of the UK further reducing the chances of decent support....
£60K is about right those asking silly money in the £65-75K range might get a few nibbles but 2025 i4 is a bit faster further devaluing the used Emira market.
