Well the private car for <£50k has gone, as has yellow one from Auto100 for £51k. Took a while, but guess the weather is improving.
Yes I just noticed that. Also noticed the latest one on there - £56.5 grey with 8000 miles and privately advertised - says this about the car which I happen to think is pretty honest and a good way to go:
"Note: If your looking for an Emira you likely know about the blistering paint on the doors. This car has a few very minor blisters on both doors (included pics but very hard to see) They were already blistered when I bought from Lotus themselves. This is a GOOD thing because it is logged with Lotus on this car and is scheduled for replacement doors at Bell & Covil under warranty as soon as doors become available. There is a delay getting doors as almost every Emira needs it doing. You want a car that has blistered already or you risk it happening outside of the warranty period. This is practically all Emiras so you have peace of mind with this car. Some are bad, this one, you cannot see them unless really looking for them. All part of the Lotus/Emira experience and does not detract from enjoying the car at all. "

I was talking to an owner this week who has had . 6 sets of doors on his verdant green car.
Phil - the head of B&C Colvill servicing told me when I took mine in for servicing last week that in mid-2024 they stopped production for several weeks to get a grip on the doors situation - they changed something about how they were being manufactured - and since then they've not had one that's been needed doing again.jamesgareth said:

Most are really disappointing with very little said which puts me off, and surely many others.

That car though seems like the person picking the spec had zero imagination, I just don t know make it all black and grey . It is normally such a beautiful shaped car and that just loses all definition and looks like a dark blob? (I know, we all have different tastes)
True, all the beauty of the bodywork has disappeared

Without wishing to be unkind, no one looking to buy an Emira at north of £50k is seeing the presence of blisters as any sort of positive.
It would put me off buying if the blisters were visible on a dealer car. Who is buying a private car with that issue?
Certainly when it isn’t priced in.
I continue to watch the market with interest. The 25 plate car at Colchester was built in 2023 but only has 59 miles. No purple or green cars in private sales, probably as result of Lotus selling barely any of them new.
That new price is a real problem.
Loads of cars on Auto Trader have been advertised for seasons now. My own selling experience, within the past 12 months, indicates the only buyers for these on the second hand market are dealers.
Private punters don’t want the potential headaches with chasing paint.
Lotus could easily have resolved this by making clear that any paint bubbling would be covered upto 5 years old, as per original warranty. The fact they have been silent on it is really poor.

Is that 25 plate the yellow one on for £71k?
Funnily enough, when I was looking last year behind I bought the Evora that car would have been my perfect spec in and out.( I thought all the launch colours were pants generally).I’ve got AT price tracker on my desktop not mobile so can’t confirm but I’m pretty sure that it start led at late 70’s originally.

I bought mine with very minor bubbles, but from a main dealer and recorded in writing that it would be dealt with (which has now duly happened) as a condition of the sale. That way I effectively had both the warranty or if for any reason that didn't operate, the dealer to pursue. It would put me off buying if the blisters were visible on a dealer car. Who is buying a private car with that issue?
I took the view that I'd know it had been done and by whom.
If the dealer is to be believed (and evidence points this way too) they have sold quite a few on this basis as they cannot sit on stock for 3 months waiting on doors.
I most certainly would not have bought privately on that basis though.

Yes. I’ve offered on it but they don’t seem to have much movement. They also told me it had a new loom fitted by them. As it was a 23 build you’d also imagine it has all the intrinsic issues discussed at length here.I’d still have bought at what I consider the right price, as it has lots of warranty and is a main dealer car. But you’d want to be going in eyes open.

I wonder when we'll next see a car under £50K? Maybe at the end of Summer. The cheapest car currently is £53K. This time last year (when I first started looking for a car) the cheapest was £55K, and they all had warranty back then. Like for like (73/24 plates with warranty remaining) now are 60K. So they're holding value incredibly well. But in other news we had glorious weather here yesterday, so I took mine down the A68 to the English border. A great section of road.
And don't tell me this isn't one incredibly good looking car..
