If it doesn t cover paint it s a flawed product. Paint issues are the single biggest concern with these.
Why hasn t anyone mentioned paint before then? (Lol)If paint is the only issue then you don’t need a warranty if it doesn’t cover paint. Just use the warranty money to fix the paint. I suspect there are other things that could go wrong?
But given the well documented issues, the paint bubbling ‘should’ be covered. I appreciate paint isn’t typically covered on extended warranty, but the issues here are exceptional.
No one has confirmed how much exposure to the elements exacerbates this issue either.
I’d suggest a significant number of Emira’s are garaged and effectively ‘sunny day’ cars.
How much of an issue is it leaving the car outdoors for days, in cold, rainy weather? Does this advance the issue? If it does, then older cars, that haven’t had the repair, ‘could’ stand significant chance of developing the issue over the next few years.
Lotus have never confirmed what the cause of this issue is. If it is defective material on the doors, between specific build
Dates, then ALL of the cars built then would surely develop this issue.
For all these reasons and more, Lotus should be ensuring that their ‘extended warranty’ includes paint bubbling- even if just confined to doors.

Lets make things clear, the issue is not the paint, thats a symptom, its the panels underneath, which are covered by the bodywork warranty. No one has confirmed how much exposure to the elements exacerbates this issue either.

If memory serves, Lotus did something similar with the Body work warranty, as they did with the paint warranty. They reduced is from 12yrs to 8yrs around Aug/Sep 2024.
So in theory, Body work and the paint blistering issues people see a lot of are covered until the earliest 2032.
All that being said, if it came down to a claim after the warranty runs out, it would be fairly easy to claim that its a systemic issue, that Lotus know about and have done little resolve. People that have panels replaced under warranty, could justifiably say the original fault was never fixed and a reoccurrence is just the original fault poorly repaired.
Oh and lastly, its definitely the panels/body work. Lotus wouldnt be replacing them if there was no issue with them

The fact that the car seems too fragile to be left out in British weather means a no from me.
£60k is a lot of money to me, and my garage (rental) is too small.
Although I'm sure Lotus won't be upset to hear that Croyde won't now be buying an Emira
I feel relieved that the yearning has gone

And that is based on what? What studies have shown this to be a fact? I'll help you out. None. Anecdotal evidence. Like people who say their granddad dropped dead the day after the Covid vaccine which proves the vaccine kills people. Of course the studies that show no statistical increase in people dropping dead the day after the vaccine? Yeah right. A certain percentage of the population drops dead every day. Who knows why. THAT'S WHAT SCIENCE IS FOR. Jesus FC. You'd think we were on an astrology site. If you're looking for an excuse to bail out of buying one of the best sports cars on the market - go ahead - but please - give the pie in the sky theories a rest huh? I was talking to Phil the head of service at B and C he says since mid 2024 no new doors they've had put on Emiras have needed it done again. Says they had some big pow-wow at Lotus and changed something significant. f
k knows. But at least that anecdote has SOME validity. Darn I am in a bad mood today.
And God don't I like it.

With a burn that strong you could remove the paint from an Emira door at 100 paces!

There are 74, 39 of which are V6, 35 i4
There are 53 if you do not include brand new. There are 74, 39 of which are V6, 35 i4
31 V6s and 22 2L.
I bought my 2l i4 in Oct 2024 with 700 miles on the clock it was 9 months old. Paid £62K
To buy a similar car now - milage and age - would cost at least £65K. Not that there's the colour I want at the moment. And for that £65K the car will have done 4500 miles. To get one with as little as mine had - I'd be paying £75K plus.
Prices are holding just fine.

For also what it's worth - webuyanycar emailed me today saying whoopie the value of your car has gone up (Reg March 2024 2L i4 9000 miles). Last time they were offering me £51,800. Today they say £53,485.
Do with that what you may.

My mistake - it was Feb 24th and the offer was £51,315. Todays it's £53,485. That's an increase of £74.83p a day! Looking at YouTube this morning and one of Bell and Colville's videos came on.
Verdant Green, V6, touring chassis 2023 8000 miles. £59k
and I'd completely changed my mind

Buts it's been reserved already.
Not surprised as I've been to B and C and would feel completely confident buying from them
