1st sub £250k 296 GTB?
Discussion
Absolutely, they have been doing this for decades, perceived values, and plenty of cars out back..
The warranty schedules changed again last year, it’s now Power 16 now, not Power 15, so 8 yr cycles come into play now.. People seem to recommend Phil Whatling at Ferrari Colchester to explain exactly how the warranties work. But as far as I can gather, as long as you renew before expiry of UK Factory 4 Yr, you have the option of Extending the full Factory Warranty to 8 years. You miss that and your options are the Power 16 Extensions which are considerably less coverage. Hybrid stuff I think have another set of time periods

Thanks everyone for their insights.
It seems that there is a strong desire to try and influence prices hovering around the £210k mark at dealerships. Whether that s trying to maintain a perceived market value. Interesting how the warranty periods are staggered, good to know. Sports carbon seats - are they a must?
I sat in both at the factory and went for the sports carbon seats as they suit the car better, they were plenty comfortable enough for the trip we did to the Swiss Alps and Italy in the summer. It seems that there is a strong desire to try and influence prices hovering around the £210k mark at dealerships. The specs I was advised against at the factory by the test drivers were asseto corsa (harsh ride and reduced refinement) and the nose lift, both said car went over all manner of speed humps and inclines without grounding (unlike my GT4 which had an innate ability to stick its splitter in to seemingly flat ground.
So to summarise
296 comes with 4 yr manufactures warranty, 5 yrs on the hybrid and 7 yrs servicing.
Approved used cars - 2 years warranty minimum. Buy a car 37 months old and it will come with 11mths plus 24mths approved warranty.
Extend the hybrid warranty and get free battery replacement at yr 8.

How much is the hybrid battery replacement if you just pay for it and it s it really necessary at 8 years, that s the question I guess.
It s not very big but some hybrid batteries seem surprisingly expensive for their size
Not clear, sf90 supposedly 16k It s not very big but some hybrid batteries seem surprisingly expensive for their size

Egham keep trying to get me to drive one. I am tempted, but figure I might then want one more than the V12 I have been researching and planning for
It’s worth driving one, I’ve had v12 and v8 Ferraris previously and swapped out a 720S to get mine - it’s utterly ballistic and very, very tuneful….. note the engine forms the basis for the f80 and Le Mans car. The 296 is an incredible car for the money. Think they simply didn't pitch it right, it’s a huge step forward from an f8 or 488.Padron said:
That s hardly a deal breaker if so
That’s just the part, think it’s £18k now, but then the labour can run to £10k. A guy over on Ferrarichat had recourse a few years in, and had it covered by Factory but got the info from the engineers.. not 918, P1, LaF prices but still considerable.bennno said:
23 with 3k miles, somebody very kindly funded the first £85k or so for me.
Weird feeling taking a car in for a free service ..
So what numbers would I be looking at on a 2 year Ferrari finance deal? £85k off list is probably 25% off most specs and a great start! £50k in and £2k a month? Not sure what GFV they would attach on a 296. £150k after 2yrs?Weird feeling taking a car in for a free service ..

You need to talk to a dealer, from memory I had more like £80-85k to put in and mines is £500 a month on the 4.9% Apr offer they were doing last year.Familymad said:
That s fantastic value
Just remember Ferrari don’t do GMFV just lease purchase. Typically 50-55% balloon over 24 months. The 4.9% definitely helped reduce stock for a bit but see it’s building again.
Guess the issue for some will be refinancing costs at the end of the deal plus cost to extend the hybrid warranty. If you needed to offload, who knows what the trade-in will be?
Too much uncertainty for me; can’t help thinking just as much fun and more certainty in one of the non hybrid alternatives.
A shame as the 296 is such a superb car, but seeing push back from buyers on all of the newer hybrids.
