That was clearly never going to be the case.

Plenty more to go too.

Struggling to see the long term future for hybrid supercars.

If they don't go hybrid what will they do?

The answer is obvious. The kids today are not wedded to V8 noises (or inferior turbo'd V6 noises)

Given the choice between a Tesla and TVR they pick the Tesla, I've seen it first hand.

I don't know - I feel like in a few years I will not be able to drive my cars in the city centre anymore, so a hybrid might be a decent solution for me - not sure they will still let me drive the FF from my city centre apartment to my city centre office in half a decade and then I need another car for commuting and fun as the FF won't be allowed anymore. At which point it becomes pointless to own, as the whole point is to drive it more or less daily.

They will surely bottom out below the last NA V8 cars (458) in a few years ie around £100k?

If you want to go faster then a full EV is the thing, if you want feedback and visceral sensations then a 458, sScuderia, 355 etc do that better as ultimate speed is irrelevant to the enjoyment.

There is going to be a generation of cars caught in the middle that will suffer long term I suspect. The 488 and F8 in particular

I would personally pay more for a 296 than a 458 - I think it is much prettier and neither one sounds good. I might pay more for a 355 than either of those though. But I would also pay more for an F50 than a LaFerrari - should have bought one of those when they were 400k, now it will remain a dream car forever.

Definitely

I’ve actually just bought a 355 spider with a Capristo exhaust. The sound is unbelievable.

best road car in the world imo - keep all the modern cars, this is so much more fun. was my commuting car for 2.5 years (no capristo, but no cats either) - 20k of the most pleasant miles in my life

The reason values are being impacted is interest rates and the economy - simple.

Labour are in, they're talking about higher taxes because they're communists and hate those who are well off, and interest rates are persistently high. Personally I think business confidence, and more importantly, confidence by those who have money to spend, is down.

I personally know that I'm worrying about the budget and CGT etc

Got an order in for a 296GTS but I'm not looking fwd to budget. Its basic communist stuff where they're taxing "employers" with higher NI (employers they forget, pay nothing, all costs are passed on either to employees as an on cost or customers in prices), and CGT which for any business owner is a kick in the teeth

Yes, it’s a brave person who buys a new Ferrari at the moment. I think 296 GTB buyers are taking a bath, partly because they want to move to a GTS, partly because of the looming HV battery replacement cost down the track. That is going to spook both of them at resale time, especially as they get close to the battery warranty expiry.

FWIW, I’ve sold all my investments outside tax efficient wrappers because I would rather pay 20% tax now than a higher rate later on. I think the budget is going to be a real pain for most of us here.

Yes budget will be tougher, but it’s not going to stop me buying up back catalogue Ferrari’s, want to enjoy Ice cars while we can.. that clock is ticking fast. Labour getting in has been broadcast way before the actual election, coverage has already taken place, so at the moment 2 weeks away market is in limbo but once it is over enough people I know are going to buy a top ICE car after February. They want one last chance to experience.

Please read this if you are considering or have a 296GTB. I recently bought a new GTB (BIG discount obvs) and took it out for a wonderful 2 day debut drive in the New Forest. I was seriously impressed, not that it was being driven hard of course.

At 75mph on the M3 on the way home the rear passenger side tyre just blew up. Exploded. No warning. Had there been a car either side of me I'd definitely crashed or worse. I managed to get onto the hard shoulder, shaken up big time, and since then it has become clear that the tyre explosion has cracked the carbon rear diffuser literally in half, and that the more they (Meridien Modena) look at it, the more parts have been destroyed and are on back order. It's gonna take months, and it was, to be clear, entirely down to the car. I just got lucky it wasn't worse.

Now this is probably unique and perhaps I just got unlucky with the car, but if you have one of these or in particular you've had a similar experience please share. It's good for the community. First world problems and all that but this was genuinely scary so pass it on please.i've had punctures, but this was a proper explosion, really nasty.

For what it's worth I've had every type of McLaren and drove my 750s this weekend. Apart from one journey in a 675LT bought off collecting cars I have NEVER had a problem with any of their cars. Again, just personal experience.

that does not sound pleasant.
I once had a suspension upright [I think] break on a car on the highway - luckily it happened as I was approaching a traffic jam, so was going slowly.

Not a nice experience, but surely just bad luck and likely would have happened in any car (road debris)?

That doesn’t sound like an issue with the 296, just an unfortunate accident? I’ve not heard of any others with exploding tyres?
