Good to see it being used. What are the servicing and warranty costs these days? Just trying to compare it to a 750s.

First 7 years of service us foc on Ferraris

I went from a 720S to a 296 - it’s light years ahead and so much quicker

The speed is a given when you have 830 PS. And as Harry Metcalfe observed in his test of the Temerario over the top speed can be the enemy of a road car.

For me the most enticing aspect of the car is just how much shear fun it is to drive. It is hard to describe what tangible things make the car "fun", but the answer is that it is probably a combination of things. Including things like: 1) the very expressive sounds at different revs and throttle positions, 2) the delicate rotation of the car around the drivers seat when changing direction, 3) the very high red line combined with gear ratios that are not excessively tall, 4) the sensible supple road biased suspension, 5) fast throttle response and 6) fast gearbox response.

Ultimately don't take my word for it or anyone else. Get behind the wheel and try one out: see for yourself.

seems pretty expensive tbh, the idea of spending £70k for 10 years warranty etc

but you could also look at it that the car has depreciated so much at you're getting over £100k off list for a lightly used one anyway

I think that’s the problem. You sort of have to accept the £7000 per annum (will increases each year) in order to get the replacement battery, which you effectively buying in instalments. If you don’t then the used value of the car will drop accordingly. I.e. Ferrari (and the used market) have pretty much got you by the short and curlies.

The cost of saying ‘I’ll not warranty’ is so high that you just accept and pay it as part of the ownership proposition.

They look great value but there’ll likely be a glut of cars coming to the market next spring that were on the subsidised 24 month 5.8% interest. Owners will either have to refinance at close on double the monthlies or get rid.

Oh dear, things are moving lower still. Ferrari Approved 296 GTBs are now down to a median price of £195k and the IQR is £189-205k. 40% of the asking prices are now in the £180s.

Jeez, what’s negative slant.

Who here ever imagined they’d be in a position to own a nearly new 830bhp hypercar for sub £200k……

McLaren warranty is £6k plus servicing on top, with the Ferrari you don’t pay for any serving until the car is 8 years old

This is interesting as the prices really don't do much for my chances of getting sn F8, if these go any lower it's a no brainer.

Is the depreciation on these not just in line with the historic norm?

I spoke with my dealer and they had only had HV problems with earlier 296’s on 5 cars which were attributed to software/charging issues, interested to hear owners real world experiences.

I cannot provide specific statistics, maybe someone else can, but generally the Ferrari hybrids (SF90 & 296) have depreciated more than Ferrari ICEs

I've only owned mine since Feb. The one problem was that one day it did not want to change gears even though the dashboard said it was changing gears. It was stuck in first gear, whether i was in Auto or Manual mode. I pulled over, turned the car off and waited for a minute. Restarted it and it was fine.

Ferrari have pushed software updates to the car which I've been led to believe (by two dealers that I spoke to prior to purchase) have solved most of the hybrid system problems experienced by early adopters. You can still get problems if you allow the HV to get low and then leave the car for an extended period of storage. Or do stupid stuff like leave lights on / doors open while you get work done of the car. (The Ferrari forum had some poor American guy with HV problems after leaving his car with a detailer who left the doors open, while unplugged to the charger, while spending hours working on his car.)

Mine is an early GTB. No idea if the car had gremlins with its first owner. But I've not had any issues with the major issues with the car. The only minor issue is that on a couple of occasions I get a warning that the parking sensors are not working. They are clean, so that isn't the explanation. And next time I start the car parking sensors are back online again. Whatever! The car is going in for service soon and I've asked them to check the car's error log and see if they can figure the intermittent issue.

Had mine 18 months now, been perfect, much more reliable than a 488, 430 and GTC4Lusso ive had before.

They're amazing cars and best car on the market at this price point

On the lambo teramio point.... it only takes off due to 4wd at the start, once up to speed the 296 is quicker (see carwow). Plus the lambo is £400k with options, so for £200k a 296 is crazy good.

Loving my gts.. the first owner had done under 2k in 3 years of ownership. I’ve added 2k in 4 months already? Used it for some fun drives, but also airport runs, even used it for runs to the shops etc. I have other cars but it’s just too good to drive, and being able to drop the roof at the touch of a button never gets, old for someone who had Morgan’s for nearly 10 years!

The only quirk I’ve noticed is sometimes it doesn’t want to go into electric only mode. I thought initially that was a temperature thing.. but this week it’s done it once and with the ambient temperature being what it’s been I’m figuring it’s something else. Doesn’t cause any issues, and reverse is fine which I figure is emode only.

Also noticed that if you’re running on the motorway in hybrid mode it exhausts the battery, then you’re stuck in petrol mode automatically and it won’t let you go into qualifying until it recovers enough energy to allow you to switch modes.. I think the software could be smarter, if the battery gets low it should either switch to gas only mode earlier to preserve enough battery to be able to switch into qualy ,ode, or flip to qualifying mode automatically…

None of this is a massive issue, just seems to hilight that the complexity of managing multiple power sources is non trivial with all the modes and performance optimisation…
