Buying a used Taycan

I think I'm more surprised that Defenders are holding up so well. Less than 10% depreciation is good going over 3yrs.
It's a funny old world.
I bought it at just the right moment. 6 cylinder diesel not poxy 4 cyl which was dropped. The prices went up twice in the 7 months delivery took but I was lucky unlike later buyers they kept the price we agreed. Supply issues also had an artificial impact on values. Mine was the last 110 made with standard air suspension which became an over £1.5k option. To buy it now would be £77k+. Being a 2022 it also is devoid of all the nannying equipment. It's a funny old world.
I believe that’s why it’s held quite firm on its value.
I would like a Taycan CT and have been monitoring their depreciation.

I know they are an expensive car new but I can’t get my brain round £42k to lease a 4+yr old car for 36 months. I know it’s not the same but my Defender 2022 was about £60k new which I paid cash for and was scoffed at by some on here. It’s 3 yrs old in June and I believe due to price rises over the period has served me well. I was offered £56k with no trade in recently to just sell it. Ok I have lost £4/5 k and interest on the original capital.
I think the Taycan CT is a stunning car and will purchase one quite soon so please don’t think I am being an arse or even anti EV. I do 26 k miles per year in my Smart #1. It’s just that just seems a huge amount.
My math has it as 8.2% APR, give or take. Pretty painful when you consider there's other marques doing 0% deals, or a decent amount less % anyway.I think the Taycan CT is a stunning car and will purchase one quite soon so please don’t think I am being an arse or even anti EV. Still, we're all a long time dead!
I was looking for a new everyday EV. Test drove the gen 2 Taycan which was brilliant. I had a gen 1 which was a bit of a dog, brake issues, electrical issues and heater broke twice. Sold it just before the big crash in values.
But the cost in ownership was frankly ridiculous compared to other cars. I would only get an EV on lease or PCP so I'm not worrying about the residual value. But the cost of the Taycan was crazy. Even looking at a 6 month old demonstrator 4S it was £10k down, £1,400 a month for 3 years then hand it back. £60k.
Ended up getting a new BMW i5 M60 for a fraction of the cost. Liked the Taycan, but not that much.

I bought one today :-)
Will replace a boxster and a macan
2020 Turbo S, OPC, very high spec except pan roof, 17k miles, Dolomite silver with red leather
Decided to add a year’’s warranty on top of the OpC 2 years, and pcp it, seemed to be the safest way to dabble
Initially looked at 4s’s but quickly realised Turbo upwards are better value currently
Mine was £151k new, I paid £66k. £85k depreciation ooer
PCP is 3 years, £10k deposit, £900 pm, £35k final payment
Getting the wheel edges painted body colour as I prefer that look
Can’t believe how well they drive, and the range is fine for me

Congrats, that's lovely. Did you use Porsche finance or finance yourself? I see the current rates are 9.9%(!!). ETA: Also was the price you paid any movement on listed prices or are they up to their usual tricks of suggesting demand is through the roof atm! Will replace a boxster and a macan

A question for the group: Am I right in suggesting a PCP on a Taycan, would be essentially an expensive lease. With no intention to buy the balloon payment at the end due to the battery longevity unknown? Very tempted to get in to one of these in the next 6 months.

Yes 9.9%. I would have put more cash in or used a bank loan for it but wanted pcp for this one :-)
I managed to get around £1k off the asking price in the end
It is basically a lease as far as I’m concerned, I’ll see what the car is like at the end and what the market is doing by then and decide. £35k to own it outright seems decent enough currently

Fair enough and thank you for the transparency. I managed to get around £1k off the asking price in the end

ok, I've just tried the 761bhp launch control...................thats ridiculous and actually unpleasant.
I'm used to superbikes and 600bhp cars, but I've not felt that feeling before
Yeah, I've felt similar. It's the torque. I think the almost complete lack of noise leaves your brain unprepared for it too.I'm used to superbikes and 600bhp cars, but I've not felt that feeling before
Never had a problem with big power ICE cars, but EVs acceleration feels like a rollercoaster drop for me.

Can anyone provide any info on what options you get in terms of Porsche connect when buying a second hand Taycan? Do you get any services as a minimum for free or is it all a fully paid service after 3years. Have looked online bust seem to get mixed statements. Thanks
If it's under 3yrs old you get the balance of the 3yrs.There are mixed reports on what you can and cannot see...I think map updates are included and useful, and my car has remote park assist which has got me out of a jam a few times. I was going to let it expire and see what dropped...will see (mine's due end of this month).
