Porsche Connect is a waste of £269/year in my opinion. Mine expired in January and I still have access to remote pre-heat/cool the car and still get map updates. I can’t monitor battery or charging status remotely or set charge timers but that’s no big deal to me.
Can you still lock/u lock the car, bib the horn etc?

And does your car have remote park assist?

(Intrigued rather than questioning value judgement).

Seen a Taycan in almost the exact spec I've been looking for, for a very good price from a reputable local dealership.

Am I mad considering one without the official Porsche warranty?!?

Get one put on as part of the deal? Take it for a 111-point check, agree that the dealer picks up the cost of sorting anything found, £1k or thereabouts gets a year's warranty on it.

Are you mad considering one without? Depends how cheap it is. I've run all my cars without warranty except the Taycan. Just extended that by 3yrs....

What spec is the car? The less "fancy" stuff it has on it, the less likely you'll need to claim (very broadly speaking).

Pretty great spec and value but a bit of caution as that dealer is a mass market volume seller and their other stock is usually a fraction of the value of a Taycan, so I won't be buying from them without a Porsche inspection and warranty which you could either pay for or work into the deal

Sorry for late reply.

Mine is a 2020 year Turbo S and I never had lock/unlock feature available in the app to begin with. I don’t have remote park assist either.

Horrid ad'. Can't stand dealers that list all the standard stuff. Hard to tell what options it has, to the point I couldn't be arsed.

It doesn't seem that well optioned to me, and it's not "cheap" especially considering the colour is marmite (my youngest lad loves Frozen Blue...not sure many do).

I reckon the approved used site has a good dozen that will be within negotiating distance of that price. So this one would have to be a *lot* cheaper than those for me to even consider it. (2yrs' warranty alone, that you get with an approved used car, is £2k. 111-point inspection will add £2-500...and you may have less hassle claiming on it if you buy through a dealer).

Main high voltage battery charger failed on my Taycan this week. Car is 3 years 2 months old and 22k on the clock. Thankfully under extended warranty- bill for the replacement would be £2,800 so I wouldn't remotely consider running a Taycan without an official porsche warranty.

For balance my 991.2 GT3 had the PADM failure 4 times. Under 10k miles....

£3k a pop

This. And quite a few 991.2 non GT3 owners complaining about repeated PADM failure too, and turbos replaced under warranty too £££.

A 3K bill on any 100k+ car seems pretty standard to be honest. The warranty is there for you if you have one.

On four different occasions in two years of ownership and sub 10k miles?

I had warranty.

Out of warranty you’d just put up with the lack of active function and have the error message deleted out. It’s great that Porsche stay ahead of the curve with engineering, but this PADM issue is bonkers, especially when must owners wouldn’t have a clue without an error message. I’m quite keen on a 991.2 GT3, but I wouldn’t be going back and forward to Porsche to change the engine mounts.

This shouldn’t be common tho’ and for certain items it really is, driving experience and the badge only buy so much customer goodwill before it all gets a bit tiring. Taycans are HV electronics or Heater matrix failures which are big bills out of warranty.

I’ve had two PADM mounts replaced due to failure on my 718 GT4 within the original factory warranty period, which quite frankly is a bit st quality wise.

I’ve often wondered why we don’t have a thread that specifically identifies and calls out known issues with cars made by every manufacturer. It seems to me none of them can make a car that doesn’t break.

My Taycan is in for rattle fixes today, silly OPC tried to tell me this was chargeable, soon sorted that

Anyway, very kind of them to give me this as a courtesy car

Nice car, nanny safety nonsense aside

Not a £150k car though, liked it quite a lot
