Nice daily, Google architecture is super smooth. It's a very wide car though. Must be Cayenne sized
I have a Macan EV as a loaner too at the moment. It feels more limo than sports car to me - very smooth and comfortable, but I don't find it very sporting to drive, despite the bhp.

I've got a Macan as a loan car currently and have been driving it for a couple of weeks. It seems to be a fairly basic model but actually I really like it. The ride is one thing I have a complaint about though as this has springs and just gets a bit jittery on uneven road surfaces. I'm not talking about the car itself, but as a passenger you get quite bounced around. I would have hoped that one on air suspension and with a nicer spec could be a real alternative when my car comes up for renewal though. Much as I love the Taycan, I think the Macan suits my needs better and with the longer range in these compared to my Taycan, range anxiety (of which there was very little anyway) has now gone entirely.

I felt the same. Not sure if it is the throttle calibration but feels a lot less responsive than my iPace given similar power.

Agreed. Driving position is ok but I somehow don't feel connected with it, and my other car is a Macan S Diesel, which is slow in comparison but I prefer dynamically.

I'll be giving it back tomorrow after 10 consecutive days and I have concluded it's not for me. I'd rather buy one of the last ICE Macans made instead, or - paradoxically - a Taycan.

This is what scares me when you can no longer renew the warranty...

EV’s will just continue to depreciate in a straight line IMHO…they’ll get to a strange where the values at eight or nine years will be a gamble on a hugely expensive battery/motor replacement. Barge motoring basically ! As battery tech improves/changes I also wouldn’t be surprised if replacement batteries become NLA at some point.

The Autocar article studying real world use seems to show this is no more of an issue than ICE. I.e. batteries don’t simply fail or fall off a cliff at 8, 9, 12, etc years old. The perception or odd case here or there aren’t supported by the facts. Plenty evidenced of failed engines in 911’s doesn’t seem to have made them worthless and unwanted.

Macan EVs sales (well, perhaps registrations) are double those of Capri so it's much more likely to be a Macan. smile

Yes but if they do fail (which does happen) you’re looking at a bill out of warranty which will write a car off. I take your point about engine failures with a 911…it definitely does happen.

The other issue is that pace of change with EV’s will accelerate.

Like a lot of people I might be about to buy an EV because of the tax efficiency…

That's what I did. Was going to go Taycan or Macan but ended up with a BMW i5 M60. Absolutely zero regrets. I wouldn't go back to an ICE car for everyday use. And the M60 was MUCH cheaper than the Porsches to lease for 3 years. And it's a bloody amazing car to live with

Was driving around Cornwall with the roof open today and noticed that once you go over 60mph, the rear spoiler lifts way up like an air brake. Close the roof and it drops back to its mid setting - which i'd always presumed was the highest it went.

I do wonder what the selling point of a 50 year old EV will be / why somebody will want to drive it. In summer I daily my 50 year old Porsche and there is no car I would rather drive. I am having a tough time imagining the same thing with say a 50 year old Cayman EV (albeit I am not saying it can't happen). To me EVs are more like phones, basically a perfect consumer good to be replaced every few years with an improved model to keep to economy ticking over.

Today’s generation will know no different.
And in 50 years no one will be driving themselves anyway.

Ps: by which point petrol will be £100 a gallon.

yeah you are likely correct, luckily I will be dead then.
They better figure out a good recycling strategy for all the stuff given our society seems to crave new things all the time.

I love that there is an old motoring video on YT , in back and white, that says petrol could cost a motorist up to £100 a year hehe

This is an offer not to be missed.... £55 off!

What an incredible saving, just think what you could do with all that money - that foreign holiday you've always dreamed of, that home extension you've always put off because you couldn't afford it. The list is endless.
What a piss take.
