They put all EV's in the single decker wide carriages which is extra, that's probably what the charge was for.
That’s not it. They put the Macan and 911 in the single deck carriage by default too. The person I spoke said something like the Taycan is classified as grade 5 and the Macan a grade 4. Might not have been ‘grade’ or those numbers but there’s definitely a classification for cars that goes beyond ‘wide’ or ‘low’. Every Porsche is put into the single deck now by default, even Macan and Cayenne, nothing to do with EV.
It is due to them having to pay out claims for wheel and panel damage from people who cannot drive their cars properly and hit the kerbs when going to the top deck on the double-deckers. Same applies to all Ferraris/McLarens etc.
I drove 964/993/996/997 including RS and GT2s on the double deckers dozens of times without problem, but all would now be single deck only, even a 964 which is a really narrow car by modern standards.

The point I wanted to make was that the length of the car will affect how much you pay for your crossings regardless of the carriage you are in. and that was new information to me, thanks. I knew it was extra for a rear bike rack but didn't realise they charged for the length of a car.
I do agree with the availability and extras issue, I think that when the OPC’s stopped ordering cars for stock the availability of hi spec cars seems to have stopped.
I’ve been looking to change my 73 plate turbo s sport turismo (not popular I know) into a gen 2 one with my must haves of adaptive cruise and heads up display in either grey or black and there and for the last couple of months there has only been one car, a second hand one.
Re pricing not sure that’s going well, one turbo s I’ve been watching (a new one) has gone £169 - £132 in the last couple of months and still isn’t selling

There's a J1.2 turbo s ST up for 120k. List 190k!
Interior not to all tastes, but still.
A J1.2 GTS up for the same. List 140k.
Spending over 120k on any Taycan seems a bit nuts (unless you're getting tax breaks).
Cars with good spec in the 50k-70k bracket seem like decent value to me and will sell quickly. Personally I would not (and did not) spend 6 figures on one.
Despite the doom mongers, they are very good cars. A good notch above the other main EV players in terms of dynamics etc IMO. So their floor should always be a chunk above the likes of the EV6 GT and even etron GT.
