As others have said, he was an extraordinary writer. After everything he went through with his Lily, it was a horrible, cruel twist of fate that he died when life was looking up again.

I didn't know Russ personally, but I enjoyed his posts immensely.

The memories came up on FB recently and the tag #BeMoreRuss remains as relevant as it was 5 years ago. If I’m ever thinking how stressed I feel and negative to a situation or person/people, a few moments reflecting on Russ puts it in perspective.

Somehow I doubt that his name will ever not be spoken.

Quite strangely, oblivious as I was to the significance of the date, Russell and his sad demise popped into my head quite spontaneously earlier on today. "Be more Russell" as someone said a the time.

Edit: what is the significance of the date? It was summer when he died wasn't it?
