Road Rally / 1.4 Endurance Rally Cars
Discussion
No we don't do any, it's very much frowned on for the public road sections.
There's a fair bit of stuff on utube of the Historics/Targa type stuff on special tests though, here's an example.

Some in car stuff from a mad welsh crew on another Historic event here.

I bought my last car with endurance rallies in mind - I went Jap thinking it would be reliable! A Honda Civic 1.4 Ep1 (2003 model) 3dr with no air con (quite a rare option apparently). I looked at Rover 25's / 200's but thought head gasket issues would be a pain in the back side so decided to look else where, then a puma came to mind but I went with the civic as it was local. TBH the civic is under powered by 12bhp and over weight by 100kg compared to the Rover, but from asking around on an endurance forum I came to the conclusion the Jap route would see less yearly rebuilds of components etc.
Unfortunately the car hasn't done me proud so far, over heating issues has lead me to believe that the head might be on the way out so I should of bought a rover in the first place hehe
Lightweight Jap such as a Suzuki swift gti or 106 Rallyes seem to do well but the vast majority run Rover Mg's.
As for autosolos, I did FDMC's events last year in my clio cup, learnt a lot about car control which I knew in theory but it was good fun putting it into practise. So get out there and have a go is what I suggest, dosent have to be in your endurance car if you don't have it right now.
Have fun

How can I find out about doing this in Scotland?
I'm afraid you would struggle with Endurance Rallying in Scotland, the furthest north those events get seem to be the North Midlands. However have a look here;http://www.nescro.co.uk/n/
Many of the Rallies covered by NESCRO allow modern cars to run using a Targa permit, this is more relaxed than Endurance anyway, so depending on what car you have might suit you.

Stumbled upon this thread randomly - does anyone use Polos/Lupos/Arosas in this type of event? Just a possibility for the distant future of the Arosa. Maybe.
No reason why not, I think there is a class for smaller engined stuff. Do a google search for the events and have a look at the entry lists and results, you will see what people run and also what is competitive.Don't know if any one has been on this site already but the forum is ace for up and coming Endurance / road rally events.
A wealth of knowledge on tap from most of the endurance teams. To gain access you need to email for the password which only takes two secs...

I've defo seen a Lupo being put to good use on here, the photo gallery might give you some inspiration as well!?
Edit: I just checked the for sale section and there's a fully kitted out 106 rallye at £2.5k and a rover 200 for a little less up for grabs

This is a chap I know, his is an ex rally car so built to quite a high specification but proves rather competitive.
Any repair parts and panels are dirt cheap - well I sold him my old Polo 16v for £150 and that has donated huge amounts of metal work to keep this one running & jumping ;-)

I'm guessing the Navigators related to Mathew Vokes, if some of Mathew's ability has rubbed off they will do OK
On the 1.4 Polo as an Endurance Car, I'm sure it would be fine, but Engine mods are very limited by the rules and although 100BHP is a superb output for a 1400, I can't say the one in our Fabia feels like its horses are as big as some others I know of. It's lovely smooth unit, but doesn't have much 'go'. The K series in the Rovers would eat it for breakfast.
