Sitting in Rally HQ and watching the coverage of the finish

Been a good event from here
It's been a very good BRC season in fact, as well as great events there have been open battles for the main trophies (BRC and JBRC) - both going to the wire.

The top class had 12 registered crews on the final round, last year there were 2 or 3. That's a good sign!

The online live coverage is good too, there's a good balance with the combination of Paul W and Matt C.

An enjoyable event, and a really good season for the BRC. It seems to be on an upward curve, and can hopefully remain so. The title fight going down to basically the final stage is as good as it gets.

Well done to all.

Yes I think this seasons BRC has been the best for several years. As you say the fact it went down to the last stage, says a lot about the competition and the competitors.

Heck, it takes it out of you... had to finish and had to finish quite well to secure the BRCj championship there. At the start of the day 6 crews were in with a chance, and the season boiled down to the last stage. Now I need most of a year to recover! It's been a long old season.

I'll agree with that. The coverage has been an enjoyable watch. I hope it continues like that.

The 2025 BRC calendar has been announced.

I think 2024 was a really good year for the BRC, with the main title and the JBRC going to wire almost to the final stage and many crews still in contention. Hence, it's really positive that they'e kept fundamentally the same events (with the exception of East Riding stepping in to replace the North West, which won't run in 25).

Continuity of events will allow them to build a stronger following, which is good for everyone. It's also going to be on ITV4 / ITVX next year too.

All good news!

Continual growth is what they need, and keeping everything similar is the way to go; East Riding swapping with North West was expected, and makes sense.
Building a solid series needs sense, and no silly changes. Lets hope we see similar entries, and small improvements in media coverage.

Midges 1 Rally 0

Next years Kielder rally will now not take place. In part it is being put down to the number of Midges out in the forest in June.

I must confess this year was particularly bad for the little blighters.

Midges are no fun, so it may seem a bizarre reason, but actually isn't. However, that event, was previously known as the Pirelli - part of the BRC, and usually run in late April, sometimes early May - and I don't remember midges being an issue at that time of year.

Mull 2024.........change of winner.

Lots of wrangling at MSUK HQ, appeals, lawyers, National Court sessions etc.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HPDGBmQ7V/

I'm in two minds about this..

1/ Absolutely, everyone including organisers must be held to account and made to follow the regulations to the letter.

2/ At the end of the day, it's a rally for fun - it's not the WRC or anything significant.

If the rules had been applied correctly in the first place. None of this would have been needed. There were other things that were done that weren't correct regarding timing as well.

I wonder how much this court case will impact on people stepping up to be senior organisers on both this event and others in the future? I don't think rallying is exactly overflowing with people wanting to be CoC, especially younger people like Richard.

That's a good point, but the experienced Stewards should have kept this one on track during the event. In some ways, Richard has been let down by them.

I don’t think the stewards had the full picture - not going to say much more on a public forum.
