I can't see how the established brands are not completely stuffed.
Especially when most people aren't bothered about cars, and even PHers will buy them when they're cheap.A neighbour has an Omoda 5. I asked her what it's like to drive - she seemed confused by the question. She showed me the electric tailgate. That seemed to be its most significant point to her.

I managed to get and broadcast the £161 5k miles deal
Ordered the carlinkit CCPA without mic to get wireless carplay and AA. Looks like its just plug and play! I think the version without mic should be fine as people are saying they're getting the built in mic to work with some playing about.
When I get the car I need to find a magsafe charger for my iPhone.
Apparently there's a 2pin connector for a dashcam on or under the headlining where the hazard button is.
Hopefully getting the car in 2/3 weeks
Really that simple. £25 and the C10 has wireless CarPlay plug and play?

The car needs CarPlay in the first place, the dongle just makes it wireless.

That's not correct. The CCPA kit linked adds Wireless Carplay / Android Auto. There's no requirement for the car to have any of those features. You can see that one of the reviews, in French, explicitly mentions using this kit to add Wireless Carplay / Android Auto to the Leapmotor C10.The car needs CarPlay in the first place, the dongle just makes it wireless.

They are - check out the news... German stuff is dying for example
There'll always be some people willing to pay a premium to lord it over their neighbours and colleagues; in the Chinese domestic market too, there's a cachet around driving a European car.You can see how some of the German marques (especially the likes of VW and Audi) have started to cut costs and corners to protect their margins. They are even making China-specific models.
I suspect this is a quartz-crisis moment for European and American marques. Some won't survive, and those that do will creep up-market, or will shift to China-oriented models and production.
Not fussed with EV s yet but this might be too good to miss for getting my mountain bike to and from the trails as my Cayman GTS is rubbish for that.
Won t do many miles so not sure spending £800 or whatever it is on getting a charge point fitted?
Will this charge off a three pin plug if I changed the socket to one that can charge EV s?
Also does the C10 come with a granny charging lead?

Seems comparable cost to when Ford were knocking Ka's out for £5500 new 20 odd years ago.
The interesting thing is their link with Stellantis. In theory Leapmotor should be a threat to their European brands, but Stellantis must see it as an opportunity to utilise Chinese EV tech and manufacturing across all their brands. The Chinese manufacturers will probably make more profit building European branded cars than selling under their own brand names. This particular car is clearly being heavily subsidised to gain market share and presence. Seems comparable cost to when Ford were knocking Ka's out for £5500 new 20 odd years ago.

Even the dongle manufacturer only claims to add a wireless function to an enabled vehicle.
I have 2 of them and they a do nothing to my car without CarPlay.

I think it works because the C10's OS is Android based. The CCPA kit's manual states the following.Even the dongle manufacturer only claims to add a wireless function to an enabled vehicle.

10 years ago, somehow this discussion in the extended family was going on as to what wheels were driven on their new Golf GTI.A neighbour has an Omoda 5. It was about 15 people, mixed company, none of them knew for sure. It stumped me completely that a large number of functioning adults wouldn't know this, and I always keep that in the back of my mind when there's car talk going on with non-car people.

Hopefully be able to sideload apps soon so I can just add Waze then there’s no need for CarPlay
