As far as I can see it's under 1000kg. So according to the quote above it's OK for MSVA
My mistake. I'd misremembered it seems (and not read the thread correctly!).

None of those apply to this though. It weighs north of 500kg so probably needs a full IVA here. No simpler than any other kit car in real terms. The kit alone comes in at ~£10k.
Correct; my remarks were about 3-wheelers in general, not this one in particular.

Hi there every one ok i have read some reports of the razor let me put some points striaght NOW
It has now past MSVA.
Engine options now available, with reverse gear as used in quad bikes.
The canopy has now been reduced in length and locks down in place
The side windows are fixed with hinges and lock in to place but also detachable so no double sided tape which by the way was explained .It was only finished the day before the show
The canopy opens now leaving the engine cover in place. look at the web site. You can get in it,with it in the open position ,in a normal height garage .
The canopy could be made stronger on the hinges, but you have to remember that it is weight saving, keeping the canopy light but having it serviceable for our bad weather.
It is now sold with an interchangable fly screen for open top options, please look on the web site.
The weight with the full canopy is only 390kg less without.
For those mentioning engine noise any engine can be fitted as it is sold as a kit to suit engine options, quite exhaust can be fitted ,or why not fit an electric motor in it. most racing cars are not quite .cobras ,ultima, other bike engined cars.
The canopy was lifted up and down at the show there are even photos on the web site showing it up.
Having driven the car i can say speed and fun , ask steve at total kit car. He has been in allsorts of cars, and stated the fastest car he has ever been in. Weight to power ratio 200 bhp 390 kg.
As for prices what can you buy with all new parts for a round ten thousand ,plus spec of engine that has racing speed.

A spell check and a bit of appropriate punctuation would help the readability of your post. Helps with the perception of professionalism if you're representing your company too.

The Razor looked very well put together at Stoneleigh and it's something different from yet another 7. Good luck with it.

Just seen the updated web site, and I do like the look of the fly screen, but I had hoped for something with side doors to reduce the potential buffeting, and to give me some open topped motoring.

Still hoping to see what this is like on the road, but good luck with the car.

I had a good look at this yesterday at Newark, and it's very good. I was impressed. Not enough to sell the Scorpion and get one, mind, the Scorp is still more practical given it actually has some luggage carrying capacity; but I liked it. I agree about the steering wheel being a bit high, and some form of seat-pedal distance adjustment would be useful, but, all in all, a good try.

Practicality is relative. The Razor has the option of a hardtop, but no luggage space whatsoever. The Scorpion requires waterproofs when it rains, but there is room to carry them when its not raining. It also has shaft drive, so no chain to adjust. The Scorpion has an adjustable pedalbox, the Razors pedals are fixed. The Razor is marginally easier to get into, and does not appear to have a separate chassis.

Like I said, they are similar, but not the same, both are basically toys, but you can tour in a Scorpion.

You can always stick with your Focus.

I think this is a fantastic design and will sell like hotcakes. I know Steve Hole at TKC very well and had a conversation with him at Newark. He told me he had driven it and that it is indeed a fantastic drive and if it fits Steve it will accomadate most sizes. It is great to see something fresh and designed for the time.

I reckon that a roofless flyscreen with 'doors', and a roofless full screen with 'doors' must be possible, and both would probably benefit from (need) some side strengthening.

The last kit cars to fire me up as much as this one were the NGTC and before that, the Bonito. Seriously tempted...

Only 10!?

I would expect there would be a lot of kit car manufacturers who would be well happy with 10 sales over the last 12 months.

My 17 year old daughter has had the Razor as wall paper on her computer since it was in CKC magazine.
It is the sort of kit that appeals to non kit people, so I hope they do well smile

A friend was seriously trying to buy one of these but had no replies after contacting them. Seems they may have gone under?

Do we know what happened? I don't think the site has been updated recently.

IIRC it's yet another John Barlow venture/company and he does seem to shut them down with some regularity. Makes after sales a sad tale, but that's another story.

Of course I may be wrong and it's nothing to do with him but I do seem to think I chatted to him at Stoneleigh in 2013 about the Razor
