kit car that uses (or could) an audi 2.7 biturbo engine?

i have an idea to put an audi 2.7 biturbo engine in a kit car - possibly a seven type car, i know the chassis would need modifying by the factory possibly but are there any that would physically take the size, im sure its no bigger than some v8's in dax rushes.

i know ill need to have a custom bellhousing fabricated as the std 6 speed gearbox is part of a 4wd setup.

im asking as i have the engine in an a6 im breaking and would lov to build a car and thought why not

Yep. Deronda Type F. It would drop right in. It uses Audi A4 A6, VW Passat, Skoda Superb etc transaxle and engine to drop right in to the engine bay. Job done.

It has been used in a number of mid engine chassis (there is a website/forum with a guy fitting one to a Lotus Esprit somewhere). I know someone who has used the RS6 V8 in an Ultima plus there is Keith Maden's RS4 engined car

good to hear this is looking possible then, the pic of the orange/black car looks great from the front, shame thats the only angle it does - shoul be a very exciting car to go in though reading the stats

Yes, the engine in the photo is the 1.8T 4 cylinder, but, as QDOS said, the engine bay will take any Audi engine up to the V8.
We've not done a 2.7 V6 bi-turbo yet, but we've looked at it and reckon it's possible with the intercoolers in the side pods. If you want to learn more or take a test drive please get in touch: [e-mail]

what sort of money am i looking at for a home build using an engine i already have, i appreciate thats always going to be a rough guide, but am i looking at £10k, £20k, £30k more.... i have no idea and theres no pricing structure on your website for home builds or factory cars, which kind of tells me if you need to ask you cant afford it ...

The full chassis kit is around £14K. On top of that you will need the engine with its wiring loom and ecu, the gearbox (you would probably be wise to find a 6-speed FWD box off an A4, A6 or Passat Diesel), the wheels and tyres. As you already have the engine, you are probably looking at another £2K to £3K.
This is a highly specced kit with good quality components (Ohlins dampers, AP brakes, etc)and the chassis has the handling to match the power outputs that you expect from the turbo-charged Audi engines.

It is indeed but the V6 fits in just the same. The V8 should do too but then that is getting silly. The V6 would make a great road car.

The problem with most modern v-engines over the Rv8 is that, being OHV, they are much wider across the heads. The Rover is a much narrower proposition.
As a guide, my 24v Alfa V6 has about 20mm clearance between the cam pulleys and each side of the chassis; a v8 would stretch further forwards and you might be in trouble! In fact I believe that a Rush was made with a BMW v8 in, where the factory modified the chassis rails to accomodate it. Never seen it though...

The other thing to remember is the A6 version of this engine runs 190 ish BHP as standard. The S4 is 265 and the RS4 is 380. You can get your A6 version upto 320 with a remap but after that you'll need to start changing turbos (K04), intercoolers, injectors and fuel pump. With the right map it will then be in the 420-440 region. The engine will go beyound that (there are 2.7 V6s running over 800BHP) but it gets very expensive.
