Aston Martin DB5 replica?
Discussion
OK, as I am a bit dim, is the DB5 a renovation (original car made good again), a faithful reproduction (i.e. all parts etc. are as per the original re-manufactured) or a replica with different underpinings ? If the latter then are we in MEV Replicar or Suffolk Sports cars XK or Eagle E-type territory ?
its fiberglass body, steel tube frame, like the orginal and frame chassis, some parts avalible, most are hard to find, and have to be made, might make 2 silver, 1 gold. for the 50 ani. there is already a company selling the 007 spy car of the AM Vanquish. think they have sold atound 30.

Hi,is there any more news/updates/progress on buying such a kit? What donor would be needed? etc
My dream car since I was a little lad. Would love to try to own a replica.

I would love to see more of the beautiful classics from the 50s and 60s turned into replicas, but not in the way that most folk here would think.
I reckon that the electric car is here to stay but most of them look so bog awful that no one would seriously consider buying one. So why not create a really efficient electric rear wheel drive train that can be fitted into a shell of a classic design of car - batteries up front, motor and drive at the rear. With all those lovely skinny tyres on wires, it might also make them a bit fun to drive as well as having a hell of a lot more style than the average electric box on wheels.
Done right and with the sanction of the original marques it might even help contribute to the reduction in their overall emissions and a much better idea than the Aston badged city car ever was.

He's done well to get that looking half decent given that the S2000 has a 4" shorter wheel base and wheel track is 4-5" wider. Be interesting to see if it is registered correctly or is just classed as a body swap ? This does seem to be a bit over the top cost wise when you compare it to the MX5 Ferrari 250 body panel swaps at around £10-15k to build.
