Is the fact its an auto and LHD just a big no-no?

LHD is ok but AUTO in a Cobra - unless you're disabled - it's just wrong.https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C962191

Of the 100% of Cobra buyers this year about 5-10% would entertain looking at an Auto.
Maybe 10-20% would entertain looking at LHD.
Given the options available in the UK, about 1% would be happy to look at a US model (spares/repair will be more awkward).
That's really limiting your resale market in the future.
If the price were really keen I'd say do it, but at that price there are many many better options

Perhaps you should have told Carrol Shelby that.

However he's American, how old was he when he owned it, did he have full use of his body, how long did he keep it for, was it Auto because they couldn't find a suitable manual or was it because with 800bhp you couldn't take your hands off the wheel ?

Would it be do-able / cost effective to swap the auto box for a manual Jim?Maybe 10-20% would entertain looking at LHD.

It’s very doable, cost wise probably a bit toppy:Gearbox £2,500
Prop shaft £250
Clutch friction plate/pressure plate £250
Flywheel £250
Slave cylinder £50
Pedal box £200
Hydraulic pipes £200
Gearbox mounts & welding £300
That’s a reasonably educated SWAG, £4,000 if you are DIY, maybe a bit less if you get lucky on some of the parts.

I should be there on the Sunday, give me a nudge and i’ll Be happy to waffle through my experiences if you like (GD, Blue with White stripes, GD J1M)

Will do if I can get the time off . I've been trawling through several hours of Cobra stuff on youtube this past week, the variations possible are eye opening to say the least. I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like visually speaking, not too much chrome, no stripes etc but it must have 15'' knock off Halibrands!Cheers

Sorry to jump on this thread but am in a similar boat to the original person who posted. Anyway from what I can see Total Head turners and Soverign Cars are the two dealers who specialise in these cars.
Anyway my question is what do people know about Absolute Performance Cobra’s? Originally produced from 2004 by F1 engineer Chris Symonds, but no longer made . They are now commanding serious money on second hand market but I am torn between buying a 2005 car with 11k miles on the clock or basically a new one. Does anyone know Absolute Performance and if so what are people’s thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Olly
