Dear all, I’m interested in a car I’ve seen in Ireland but I’m wondering about the importation issue (IVA test ???)

It was built and fully registered in Ireland Jan 2001
VAT was paid on purchase in 2000
The donor was a 1982 Escort, in the build folder there are lots of the Escorts MOT certificates

Would it need to be IVA tested?
Would the photos and old donor MOTs be enough to get an age related plate?

Many thanks in anticipation
Regards
Phil

In theory as its older than 10 years no IVA and you get an age related plate.

However the good old dvla do like to play with the rules, there is a chap in the classic section having issues with them as he imported a classic that was rebuilt in South Africa many years go, and its SA reg doc says its built up so DVLA are insisting it goes on a q plate.

It will be all down to what it is listed as on its Irish reg and which pen pusher processes the application on the day.

It’s hit and miss isn’t it! I’m not sure I want the hassle and stress (and £££) of putting it through the IVA
It’s a Fisher Fury with the classic bonnet (headlights are very low)

Age of the chassis, though (first registration), so 2001.

MOT emissions testing, however, would be based on the production date of the engine.

I couldn't find anything to say that an imported kit car would be treated differently from an imported "normal" car, but as PAUL500 said, it might depend on how it was registered in Ireland.
