Looking for a Kit Car without having to get a donor car

I've been looking around at buying a kit car to build. The only one I have found that you do not need a donor car is a caterham.

Are there any brands which you can recommend that you do not need a donor car. Also by last resort if there are any recommended ones which you need a donor car.

Looking in the range of up to £12K.

When you say "without a donor car", do you mean you don't want to have to get a complete donor vehicle and strip it, or you want a kit car that only uses brand new parts?

I think most kit car companies will sell you a package of all the donor parts you require to go with your kit, that's what I got from Tiger for my old Super6 - just the donor engine, gearbox, axle, brakes etc..., I never had to have a full donor vehicle. Of course they are used parts so you have to clean / refurb etc.....but they did the harder stuff like new mounting points on the axles, modified front uprights etc...

I'm just looking for the full bundle to be honest. I don't fancy buying the kit and then having to purchase a car to strip.

Westfield will sell you a complete kit without having to source a donor.

They provide a new engine, new suspension, recon box etc.so it will have a new registration number.

Most companies will do this for you if you ask.

GBS Zero is one where the packages and prices are well publicised though.

Ask yourself what you really want from the experience. Is your main motivation the build experience, or the drive? If you mainly just wanna drive, you might consider just buying a used Caterham or Westfield. £12k will get you into a tidy lowish spec catering van or a fairly tasty westie. If you actually want to build, £12k may be a little tight using all new/reconditioned parts.

Never noticed the £12k budget!

I built a Westfield with an MX5 Mk2 donor (1.8s has a Torsen LSD and 140bhp as standard).
I did it for the build experience, that took me 12 months (finished it last year) and I've only driven 1000 miles since!

Total cost was £11 580!!

Triking. They can sell you a complete donor kit, or you buy a donor bike and assemble with the kit.

I recently stripped a moto guzzi for my project and it came apart easily and very quickly, and sold all the parts removed, giving me essentially a free engine, carbs and ignition system.

You can buy a pack of jag donor parts from a number of different suppliers including the V5 for a Cobra build

Have you thought about a re body style kit car. Tribute 250 SWB , a re body over a BMW Z3 base car ? Buy a good Z3 for £2 - 3k and you won't need to get your hands dirty. Should fit your £12k budget too.
