A friend of mine bought one of these years ago, and found some of the basic engineering design on it was not brilliant, so he set about fixing it and most of this work was completed to both chassis and bodywork. The project ground to a halt with the arrival of a family, and its stood untouched since, so effectively its now a complete kit in an unassembled state. I've built several kits cars myself, but not had to put any through SVA, and this would certainly get a Q plate if registered. The car would appear to have a good resale value if built as its alongside the likes of the Noble Ferrari P4 and Cobra replicas. I think there are about 15 of these made, so question is are there any UVA owners out there that have put one of these through SVA? He does need to sell this on now due to poor health, so hes trying to place a value on it as well to sell as is, but its a difficult one if it wont pass SVA due to any fundamental design issues.

Details of the cars can be found here:

Getting it through IVA will present problems but none that can't be solved. The problem is that solving the problems may not be cost effective. The example of the auction estimate at £22K. It could easily cost that much to do the work. If the glass is not already correctly marked (by the manufacturer) then new glass will have to be made and fitted. The picture does not show if pop-up headlights have already been designed/made again lots of work involved.
All doable but only if the new owner is doing the work. If the work was to be done by a company then it could become very expensive.

Will need a very dedicated owner.

Sadly the comments made by Steve D (we are not the same person ..... although we know of each other) are very true. The current IVA test is a very different beast to the (very) old SVA. There are many aspects of the car (kit) which would now be non compliant and would need addressing. As Steve D states, it could be possible (in theory) to fix these issues but would take a very determined effort and reasonably deep pockets. If the work was done professionally it would take several deep pockets. Then there's the timescale with regard to 2030. Yes it would get a Q plate.
Sadly for your friend the kit value has to be low. However, there are people out there that would relish the opportunity to take it on.
Sorry if we both sound a bit negative but be assured I'm sure we would both love to see it on the road.
Best regards.

This is really as expected, without SVA I'd built it quite happily, although too much time in the garage in the past did cause a divorce, so I wont make that mistake again. Ebay here we come methinks.

I hope this is the right place, I'm not a frequent visitor to the Kit Car section unfortunately.

Here in Germany a large stock of UVA M6GTR parts and moulds have surfaced and are available for quick sale. I'll post a couple of (rather poor quality) pictures later, here's the detailed description I've been forwarded. The price is negotiable:

http://www.uvam6gtr.com

5 SETS REAR SUSPENSION ARMS

REMAINING UVA M6 GTR STOCK WHEN UVA STOPPED PRODUCTION

UVA PARTS LISTS, BUILD PAPERS & SLIDE SETS

BELLHOUSING ADAPTERS: 1 EACH ROVER V8 TO RENAULT & FORD TO RENAULT

THE PARTS FOR 1 CAR INCLUDE: WINDSCREEN SET, FUEL TANK, PEDAL BOX, WIRING LOOM, TRANSAXLE, etc, etc

WEBSITES: UVAM6GTR.com & M6GTR.com

THE UVA M6 GTR MARK 2 WENT COMPLETELY AWAY FROM THE VW BASE OF THE M6 GTR MARK I.
THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAD UVA FABRICATED WISHBONES, WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE BUSHES, SPAX ADJUSTABLE SHOCK ABSORBERS & COIL SPRINGS.
THE STEERING RACK WAS A STANDARD PRODUCTION METRO LHD OR RHD UNIT.

best regards
Bruce
THE STEERING COLUMN COULD BE FORD OR METRO.
THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS AVAILABLE IN A RANGE OF OPTIONS INCLUDING A UVA FABRICATION OR BE PORSCHE BASED.
THE TRANSMISSION COULD BE RENAULT OR PORSCHE.
THE PREFERRED ENGINE WAS THE ROVER V8.
THE CHEVROLET V8 COULD ALSO BE FITTED.

TODAY MANY OF THE HIGH PERFORMANCE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ENGINE & TRANSMISSION SETS COULD BE FITTED IN THE BACK OF THE UVA M6 GTR.

THE CENTRAL TUB IS BONDED & BOLTED TO THE CHASSIS AT FINAL ASSEMBLY TIME.
IT IS QUITE EASY TO PRODUCE A LHD OR RHD AT THE BUILD STAGE, BECAUSE IT IS THE POSITIONING OF THE PEDAL BOX & STEERING COLUMN.
THE BODY & CHASSIS CAN BE EITHER LHD OR RHD BECAUSE YOU NEED THE STEERING RACK & WIRING LOOM & HEADLIGHTS.
MOST OTHER PARTS CAN BE USED FOR EITHER LHD OR RHD.

THESE CARS ARE WELL ENGINEERED & RELATIVELY EASY TO BUILD COMPARED TO SOME OF THE GT40 REPLICAS

THE UVA M6 GTR MARK I MOULDS WERE SCRAPPED WHEN WE COLLECTED THE PARTS FROM UVA.

UVA STARTED PRODUCTION OF THE VW BASED M6 GTR BY PURCASING THE RIGHTS FROM THE USA.

UVA DESIGNED THE UVA M6 GTR MARK II THEMSELVES & MADE A LOT OF ENGINEERING CHANGES TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTION QUALITY.

THERE WERE 3 ORIGINAL McLAREN M6 PRODUCED BASED ON A LOLA RACE CAR.
QUITE A FEW LOLA REPLICAS HAVE BEEN PRODUCED FROM OLD LOLA RACE CAR PARTS.

THE TOTAL COST TO US FOR ALL I HAVE PURCHASED OVER THE YEARS IS IN THE 55.000 TO 60.000 GBP.

I HAVE UVA M6 GTR MARK II CHASSIS NO 056, SO I BELIEVE THAT THE NEXT WOULD BE CHASSIS NO. 057 & 058.
UVA HAD THERE OWN CHASSIS PLATES WHICH WERE STAMPED AT UVA. UVA ALSO STAMPED EACH ACTUAL CHASSIS WITH THESE NUMBERS AS WELL.
I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THESE STARTED AT ONE ORIGINALY OR SOME ARBITARY NUMBER.
NORMALLY YOU WOULD EXPECT TO HAVE TO PRODUCE QUITE A FEW PROTYPES BEFORE PRODUCTION STABILIZED.
MANTA IS BELIEVED TO HAVE PRODUCED 1000 CARS IN TOTAL, SO 50 UVA SEEMS REALISTIC.
