I built a Sylva Striker and sold it in 1999. Anyone know how i can find out it whereabouts ? Interested to see if its still on the road. Reg no is Q240RRP, had yellow body work with black chassis and nickel plated wishbones and trailing arms. Fitted with a 1700 xflow. I did the Laon trip in it which was a hoot.

It's not listed as being currently insured and the DVLA can't find it on their database (it was correctly registered as a 'Sylva' and not something else, I assume?)

Ive tried the DVLA before but i wasnt sure if it applied to Q's. Guess it would be daft if it didnt !

Yes it was reg'd as a Striker. I think i remember the insurance i used insisting on it

Just to be sure, I checked my own Sylva (also Q-reg), which is presently SORN for the winter, but is insured.

It came up correctly on the DVLA database as being SORN, but the insurance database is not listing it confused

I can only assume that any vehicle which is SORN is not considered to be 'road legal', therefore does not come up on the insurance database??

Whatever... if your old car was still alive and registered in the UK, it should have come up on the DVLA databse, regardless of it being Q-reg

I guess my only option is to contact the owners club but i guess they will quote the data protection act to me. Unless someone reading this is in the SSC owners club and can find out for me. Just want to see if its alive and well given the blood sweat and tears that went into building it !

A very late reply to this post, I own this Striker and have done so since 2014!
It’s currently undergoing conversion from Crossflow to Vauxhall power and should be back on the road soon.

What’s the chance of the OP spotting this?

Yes, click on the username above, takes you to profile, top rightish there is a link 'email me' which uses ph servers to send them an email, disclosing your email to them but not them to you. They can then reply if they wish.
