Any idea what bits you don't like, or is the whole thing just not to your taste? If the whole thing, any idea why? Not having a dig or owt, just curious.

Well, since you ask, the raised edges along the front wings are far too high, and the sort of hunched-up look of the cabin. And as Dave points out, that rear window.......

It's much better than I could ever do, but then I wouldn't attempt something like that anyway, I would be looking to develop and refine ideas which are more appropriate to small volume manufacturers who don't have the large makers' resources.

Just one small point, while we are on the subject of car design, if any manufacturer wants to tap into an existing market which is not currently well-served, all they need to do is to produce a car capable of accommodating taller and bulkier people in comfort.

I do agree about the rear window, the flat look of it isn't that good, but overall I think that the rest works well. Perhaps a slightly longer bonnet, a bit more Tuscanesk? and a slightly more flowing roof line at the rear would help to draw the eye out.

Whilst I can see what you're saying, and I too feel the rear window could do with a little more curve to it, one thing that I would point out is that this is meant to be a cheap-ish kit car, with the basic kit only costing, IIRC £4750 +VAT. And that it will be quite a small car, smaller in fact than a Mk1 MX-5!

That's fair enough, and I think it looks really good as it is, essp for that sort of budget. I hadn't realised it was going to be that petite, I guess it is gtm libra sort of size (dimensions on the gtm site) it should be fun to chuck around the twisties tongue out essp with a nice light v6 in it purring away.

I'm looking forward to seeing one in the flesh smile

The chassis is pretty similar in size to that of most of the 7 clones, so the shell might fit on to some of the existing chassis out there, should folk wish to have a full body. Or such was part of the original plan anyways. Only real differences in size to a 7 is the pointy nose really. Well, that and the fact the roof should actually keep the rain out. hehe

That look really nice. Anyone know what sort of price, spec and who is building it?

A web address would be hopeful.

Aeon Sports Cars will be building it - www.aeonsportscars.com - although they haven't got any info on the website yet as officially the car hasn't been launched. The last I heard they've got a rolling chassis for car #1, and the body shell is being worked on from the 1/4-size model right now.

Price is £4750 (excl. VAT) if I remembered correctly. As the car isn't launched the spec is subject to change, although I understand the chassis is built to accommodate a modern Zetec engine (from Ford Power Products) or a Duratec V6 (2.5/3.0L). I know one guy wanted to drop an Alfa V6 in, and was told that's possible too. The car should weigh in at the 600-700kg mark IIRC.

The Epona project is the brainchild of Garry Gooderham, who designed the body for his final year project at University in Newcastle. Aeon have taken it on as a viable kit and have built the chassis and are currently gauging interest to determine the next stage of building the full scale body.
Epona was refined with input from posters at: www.locostbuilders.com

Here's a thread or two!!

So that's what GAZ's actual name is! From speaking to his old man at Stoneleigh I thought the model was off being scanned at the moment?

Easiest thing I found was to host them on locostbuilders and then link across to them from here

Actually, you've got some space on the Aeon Owners' Club - PM me, or give me a call, and I'll give you details (although you've not quite finished the registration process)...
