Murtaya - Too Fast To Race!

Just got my Murtaya back from Triton Motorsport who did a great job. 370 ish bhp and 395lb/ft. Mother of god that thing really, really flies now!

Need an "I eat Veyrons" sticker.
I think you might struggle with a Veyron, but the old demonstrator when it had that sort of power certainly felt supercar pace... GT2 or Gallardo sort of acceleration (at least at fast road speeds), which is pretty impressive for a genuinely usable car from a small manufacturer. To quote the Clarkson "Epic!"

Yesterday I did genuinely go in something FASTER than a Veyron... Rita was her name. A ride at Alton Towers, which does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds!!! Standing next to it take off is nearly as impressive as being in it, it is like it just gets hooked up to a passing aircraft! You have got to have respect for a car that can go (nearly) that fast, sadly I think the Veyron is out on its own there.
Nick's car is going to be mega with that sort of power.
Remember Chris when you road tested the car for MSN it was 320bhp and 330lbft torque - and the production cars like Nicks are 50kgs lighter than the blue proto/demo that you drove.
Quite agree that eating Veryons may be a tad optimistic (but chase them down if you get the chance Nick!) but I can not think of many things that will live with his car point to point on the road.
Play safely Mr Ravenscroft! ;-)

I hope to one day have one of those (~400hp Murtaya, not the Veyron. Though I wouldn't kick the Bugatti out of bed...but I guess my insurance agent would for me)To quote the Clarkson "Epic!"

the Murtaya would murder a Veyron on running costs... How about £26,000 for four tyres for a Veyron? And the Alloy Wheels are lifed for 3 years, a new set of Alloys is £29,000!! Anual servicing is around £13,000 for a first year service, apparently it gets dearer each year after... So assuming you may need a set of tyres at your 3rd Anual service, you could need to write a cheque for £70,000 to the Bugatti dealer!!! Apparently it is all in the pursuit of the Veyron being indestructible and reliable for the the 12 months following a service. Oh, and that is based on an anual mileage of 3,000 miles..... Bombproof drivetrain doesn't spring to mind, just strong enough to cope with 3,000 miles of abuse before Bugatti change every component at your expense. I'll have a Murtaya thanks!
Is the Murtaya factory ok? News night on bbc2 now about small businesses... Some guy from a garage in Didcot said he had to go and collect a car from the factory to keep the recievers at bay or something?Incase its bulls**t just thought yad like to know whats being reported.
Just didnt seem right to me with what we get to see on here and the coupe development?
Guess you can watch it later on bbc iplayer to see accurately what was said.

I just had a look at the same report, basically a guy with a garage in Didcot has bought a Murtaya as part of a move into (presumably) something other than servicing cars. He says that a colleague of his went to collect a customer's cars from the factory in Cornwall, in order to protect it from the receivers, and that when he got there, the lights weren't on due to the reasons given earlier.
Let's hope this is a temporary hiccup, or some kind of confusion thing, and that Neil will be on shortly to tell us what's going on.

Hi everyone,
Lets nip this in the bud before the rumour mill gets on the way!
The piece on Newsnight features our Didcot distributor - Arden Automotive - talking about the difficulties that small businesses are having in raising finances through the banking system.
So cards on the table to ensure that the truth is out there rather than anything else.
We have had a private investor withdraw his funds from Adrenaline for personal reasons and we are currently in the process of replacing that individual in the company's structure. Adrenaline was formed by three people, Tom, Dan and I. We each hold a 25% stake in the company - the other 25% stake being held by a private investor who came on board back in 2007. We are bringing another investor on board following the withdraw of the individual previously mentioned and this is in progress at the moment.
Sometimes people say things for dramatic effect which are then edited to suit the purposes of the piece (I have fallen victim to this myself on some BBC news coverage about the Small Firms Loan Guarantee Scheme back in the Spring) and the impact can be out of context - anyone remember the Gerald Ratner quote which destroyed a £500 million business overnight?
As for the lights not being on - it was mid-afternoon! Rest assured I shall be speaking with Mr Pick from Arden today!
We are on the end of the phone if anyone wants to ring - and busy in the workshop on both sites that we operate if anyone would like to call in for a coffee!
Neil.
