.........well.......after a few years of rumbling about in my buggy I have determined that the sweat box I have created needs A/C to get through the majority of our summers.

So.....I'm having this fitted. This will get spendy. : )

Arthur
Arthur, are there any videos of it rumbling around?

Also, why the extensive cage? Will there be a lot of track rumbling?

And while I'm barraging you with questions, what are the spec's of the new engine?

Hello Bernard,

No videos to show. Sadly.

When it gets all finished up in the next few months I will shoot one to post. : )

The cage.....well...the guys building it might have gotten a bit carried away. I don't mind really. My track skills are mediocre at best, so when I plough into a tire wall I am hopeful the only sore spot will be the cheque book. I am happy to have a bit more protection than the plastic bucket on wheels had to offer in the car's previous life. There are way too many people driving around not paying the slightest bit of attention. I have been uncomfortable from time to time, sitting at a light and being able to casually look out the drivers side window to be able easily study the brake caliber on the vehicle waiting in traffic beside me. It sits so low compared to most everything on the road.

As for the engine. I will need to look back. Nothing outrageous. Aluminum heads, roller rockers. Mild cam. A typical Edelbrock street performer carb. 600 or 650 cfm. We will check again but the earlier numbers were in the 330hp range. Plenty enough to outpace my skills. I recognize that there are so many more options out there for a lightweight modern engine that could run circles around this set-up. But that was never the point. The V-8 has wonderfully lazy torque and sounds fab.

I have been fettling with the car over the years and figured I would punch all the possible future wants. I only wish to do the interior once and then repaint the exterior.

Almost ready to go to upholstery. Maybe 2 more weeks prior to going for upholstery.

Hey Rene,

They are currently using a printer that cost around $2,500.00 CDN (1,390.00 pounds) .... not very expensive, in my opinion, for what it can do. They do wonder how long it will last. : )

I wonder such myself, I guess it depends what material you gonna use for what parts, say hot cooling water needs I guess different material then say those aircon parts, but still a bit try and error I guess.

for me the hardest part would be getting the right measurements etc in the computer to print, I would not understand such, to difficult hah, so If I could use some printed parts which say I can not buy or for special use, I would ask someone else. hehe

You need to understand what goes in the printer all numbers and so on and or need 3D Kamera? lol, to much for my sad brains I guess, luckily a car friend of mine I saw a while ago making also a part for his car which looked very good and I thought, I have to remember that for later if I ever need a printed part, hah.biggrin

You are correct. They have printed and reprinted a few parts trying out different densities, as well as the use of varied plastic wire feeds.

There are 3D metal printing versions as well. Not certain what stress the metal printed bits can take. I would guess it is like so many things.....experience is gained through trail and error.
