Dont like the sound of this Neil, when and who would have supplied faulty units like these? I ask as I got a set in 2008. What 'fault' might they have?
If you bought them from a good supplier non at all. If you have rose jointed them equally no problem.

I am sure you will find that 'these' are the latest version, where both the eyelet and the poly bush have had a redesign...Just by looking at the picture I can see this ....
The defining features of earlier bush version is that there is a taper on each side and that it has an eyelet which is not as broad, that also has internal cir-clip grooves.
(Note... that for a long period, I have supplied rose jointed versions of that earlier shock WITH the taper bush cut into 3 and using the outer tapers as dirt shields)

What a mess to take off the front bumpers !

Everything is rusted, and, the bolts are so old that they are too used to turn...

It's impossible for me to grab then with my grip key.

But i am not leaving this affair like this !

Have a nice Christmas !

Hello,

before fixing front and rear dumpers, one question i just thought about and i don't have the answer cause it's not written in the owner manual.

I'm sure that, as on the cerbera, there is a height to respect at the front and at the back, i'm quite sure between ground and chassis...

Correct or not ?

And what is the perfect height to have ?

Many thanks for your answers, as usual, professional !

Regards

Jérôme

With several calls/emails over the last few days, where I have been asked the difference between the earlier and current shock absorber poly bushes ...The earlier bush is numbered RA3AVO and current bush is RA6AVO.

So,

I'm going to send the rear dampers to david gerald tomorrow as they are closed until the 3rd of january.

I orderd them the front dampers by the way, as i imagine it's better to change all four at once and give the same specialist the total case.

The front i took off from the car seem to be very old, nearly as new as the car !!!! Nearly 40 years now as the car was the 5th built (chassis number 2244TM and the first one was the 2240).
The height is betwee 42 and 43cm and the width is 9cm (diameter of the spring).

I hope they will give me the perfect products to have a perfect car.

I asked them by the way as i mentioned it before i think what is the perfect height to have at the front and the back between chassis and ground.

If somebody have great advice on this point, he is really welcome as i think it's better to have several opinions and to make its own idea.

Thanks again for your help !

Cheers

Jerome

OE shocks/springs from that car would of ran with a generic spring and 2 alloy spacers top and bottom (which are the spring seats) and hammerite metallic blue shocks with a 8mm tall seal housing on top of the shock tube.... height...a general guide (for me) would be 2 fingers on top of the rear tyre (point like a gun) and the wheel arch then on my knuckle THEN the car level to the front.

Hello everybody
Some news .
All the suspensions are fixed ; it was quite difficult for me as the car is parked in a public garage and as i'm not so rich in tools !
Now is the Time to set them up!
I will follow the trick of the two fingers : one of the efficient rule to pilot little planes ! So i'm sure it will work!
I read on the internet these datas:
183mm for the rear ones between ground and the basis (under it) of the outrigger in front of the wheel
159mm for the front ones with the same method

What do you think about that?

Cheers

Hello

to answer the last question, no, definitely no !

Maybe can you contact Doug by David Gerald and ask him what are the technical informations ?

I think he knows me quite well and the story is really new.

Ask him about the Jerome Domenec case ; i'm sure he will give you all details
