Mk1 grantura door hinges and posts

Hi does anyone have drawings for the door hinges and posts for the early grantura , also any details of spare or reproduced parts . Kind regards a new but very happy grantura owner, mark from watford.

Welcome to this forum, I have drawings for a mk2a hinge, which I made mine from, if they are the same as mk1? Someone will know if they are......

Thankyou jay and prideaux, . Jay if you could e mail or post me a copy of your drawings that would be fantastic!! . I will upload some pictures of my grantura later on , it is in need of some serious tlc , chassis looks ok May need a couple of tube replacements , the body has been cut about a bit the roof has been cut off! . .? And the doors cills have been cut where they meet the tub, I will show you on the pictures.... It is a 1959 mga engined grantura , with various parts missing, so I am on the hunt for the next couple of years to restore as best I can. I have no previous experience with glass fibre or tvr s . But I have just completed a restoration on a 1962 austin Mini Cooper 997 which was great fun , having sold it to fund this tvr project. I have to say even though it is in many many pieces I feel very fortunate and very happy to have ownership of such a fantastic car and can't wait to get to know you all , and tap into your knowledge and contacts........ Where did you find the mk1? What's the Chassis number, have you been on the Grantura register ( google it ), good source of info.

If its at that point i hope you have deep pockets as these cars deserve a top level restoration.
The most important thing is not how much you know but knowing who to ask and trusting there advice and taking there advice.
Dont touch a thing until you have done all your research and know what you need where to get it what it will cost and what you can do yourself and what others need to do for you.
Some of the Best restorations i have seen in any rare mark have been where the research has taken several years before starting.
Restoring a Mini (Great Car) and a hand made low production car is two different things.
Try and look at other cars that have been restored and not just one.
As yet i have not fully restored a car from scratch yet to come but there are those guys on here who have and lots of knowledge and in some cases i wish i knew half of what some think they know but thats the case with all forums.

Thegamekeeper is a TVR spares supplier. He like others feed their familys buy selling bits. Once you do a deal with him, you will be able to measure alll you would like.

Looks to me that door hinges are the least of your problems with that project?

Was it advertised as one careful owner
I hope your not too old as your son will not only be making some bits but finishing it off
Maybe a new body shell and bonnet might speed the process along a bit

Thankyou for all the supporting moral lifting comments , I believe if at all possible this car deserves to be lovingly restored,hopefully I can do it justice. I have no experience in fibre glass,and am hoping that the body will rejoin together without too many problems, the body has been separated for many years so must have moved or twisted to some degree anyway onwards and upwards .regards to all...
