Hi Bernard, I do like your enthusiasm. To achieve 267kph is not my goal even when I live in Germany with no speed limit (.. at certain parts) on the "Autobahn". I am going to leave the engine and the diff as it is. A car for the road with a weight of less than 1000kg, an engine with 233hp and a five speed gear box makes a l lot fun. To people who are looking for historic cars as a nice accessory the brand TVR seems to be underestimated. I guess they do not understand what we like and how much fun we do have with our toys. Find here another pic of 3142TM with the dark wheels .. for your collection wink. And interior pics as well. Regards A.

Thanks Arnfried,

The interior matches the exterior well. It's especially fun to see your treatment of the transmission tunnel, as I was thinking of something very similar, after looking at Griffith pictures. Still not sure.

Did you know Bert Zimmerman's car? As I recall, it was in the 160+MPH range, but unfortunately, it didn't do so well.

Of course, you're right about TVRs being underestimated by most. To me, that's part of the appeal. That's also why mine is receiving a high output Ford V8.

Best,
B.

Hi Toni, that looks great. It seems to be an early version of the HRG-cylinder head, isn´t it? Does everything works well? This afternoon I visited one of your former cars in a barn. If you like to know more lets have a phone call.
Best regards, Arnfried

Hi Bernard, yes I did know Bert Zimmermann and his car but I did not meet him in the last 8 or 9 years since I left the German TVR club. I also remember his car. Bert modified his TVR in order get a lightweight and he worked out some aerodynamic modifications. I remember that the car was very fast long time ago at Zolder circuit in Belgium, where the European TVR clubs of several countries hold their continental meetings once a year. But I am sure you have got many photos of his car in your collection as well. I do not have a single one.
What are you doing with your car? Sounds good! Could you post some photos which are showing what you are doing and the progress of your work?
Regards, Arnfried

Arnfried, good catch! It's mainly there to remind me not to be too serious, and as a little comic relief. For a while, I got carried away with the "lightness" bug, to the point of only buying aviation grade half-height nuts for fasteners that were mainly stressed in shear.

I seem to remember it playing 'La Cucaracha'.

David,

Caught that. I want to help girls imitate Marilyn Monroe's subway grate antics. That should raise a few skirts.

Hello Arnfried,
Very impressed with your cars, they are a great credit to you.
Could you tell me please, how difficult was it to install the Rover V8 in the M chassis? (i.e. exhaust manifolds and so on).

Best regards,
Jim

Hello Jim, thanks for your positive comment. I bought the M in the early nineties as a V8-prepared project from someone. The most difficult job was to have a good solution for the exhaust manifold. For that the rolling chassis with the engine built in went from Hamburg/Germany to the company Hayward & Scott in Essex where they did an excellent job but they charged him a fortune for the exhaust system. The point is that the Rover V8 engine with its 90° angled cylinder heads just fits in the chassis, but there is not many space left to the chassis tubes as you can see in the pics. The most converted TVR M cars I have seen did not solve this problem in a proper way. All the rest of the work is compared to the exhaust manifold not a big deal. In my case it was a reason to buy the project car because this job has been done professionally. Regards, Arnfried

Anyone know where I can get some of those exhaust manifolds from? I think its time to swap the Essex engine
