First of all I'd like to introduce myself since this is my first posting on your forum. My name is Keith and I reside just outside Phoenix AZ USA. The cars I have now are a 1974 Triumph TR6 and a 1956 TR3. I'm wanting to start another restoration and was looking at TVR's. There are two cars locally that are owned by the same person that I've been looking at. First car is a 63 or 64 Grantura and the other is a 74 2500M. I like the style of the M but I'm not a big fan of the TR6 engine even though I've had my TR6 for 39 years. I would really like to find a 3000M or S but they are not many in the states so I'm thinking of going for the Grantura.

I want to post a few pictures of the car and get any advice on what I should be looking for. I now these cars like to rust inside the body but this shows no signs of rust at all I believe the car was originally from S California and then spent the last 15 years in AZ. The car has not been run for at least 10 years, so all the hydraulics are shot including a frozen clutch. The pictures show the car to be in much better condition than it actually is. Cracks all over the body and the bonnet has had a poor repair to fix 9 3" holes that were drilled in it for cooling I think.

It seems that these cars go for more money in the UK and Europe than over here in the states, but I want to ask if anyone could give me an estimate on what the car is worth. I want to make a fair offer on the car but it hard to get a starting point. I've looked at Hagerty's value chart but the car is not in the condition they have listed. Also please let me know if you see any problems, or items that are not correct for the car. I like to bring back cars to their original condition, with only minor safety, and reliability improvements.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and look forward to any ideas, or suggestions.

Keith

Hi Keith.
Agree ................. Grantura all day long.
Need more photos (inside and out), to give you some idea what is original/not original. Also engine bay if you can get it open!

I can't get the pictures to show like others on the forum, but I've posted about ten pictures. You have to click on one and then scroll down to see more.

Thanks for any help.

I was finally able to secure this car and took delivery last weekend only to find out that the seats are incorrect for the car, not even close. So I'm beginning my search for a correct set or even just one, I may be able to fabricate the other if needed. If anyone has any leads on the correct seats please let me know. Were these seats only used in the MK3's or were they used in any of the other models?

Thank you for any help

Congratulations! Welcome to TVR addiction. Cocaine may cost nearly as much, but if there's no frustration, where's the fun?!

Enjoy,
B.

I believe that several people have jigs for having new seats made. They are pretty simple construction. If they are the type common to Series one Vixens and Tuscans, then I think Andrew Grey has had some made in the past

Thank you for the replies. I have been in contact with Andrew about the seats, and may have found an original not far from me. Please let me know if anyone else has some. Thanks
