Well,
my 3000M is Onyx brun 1359 a Peugeot colour.
During it's life it has had a few (or who knows) scrapes and each time areas have been blown in. Needless to say in various shades of brown. I found it very difficult to determine what it looked like when it left the Blackpool Rocket factory.
I've just recieved a spray can of "Brun Onyx 1359 Peugeot" and sprayed a formica panel to see the true colour.
A pity but i've decided i don't like "Onyx brun".
So the big question what is the best colour i can repaint my 3000M.
Maybe "Daytona Yellow" like the 1600M i sold or perhaps a nice rich "Red"
I would like to keep a cream Vinyl roof + Weather Shield.

I must say that looks nice.
I think i need to rub down a door or part of a wing and try the Onyx Brun on that with some lacquer to be sure. I have the beige Everflex panels all sewn and ready to glue on the roof. Also i have already replaced the Weather Shield with the same Everflex.
In the engine bay the paint is Onyx Brun from when it was built so it all matches.
The footwell carpets that i have made i have used some of the Beige Everflex for the piping on the edges which looks class.

I'd agree but its not a garish metallic or flippy paint, so all good!!! And your car has sensible period wheels!!!

If it looks 'right' then it's ok smile

At least it sports the correct colour bumpers even if the boot rack is round the wrong way!!!

(The lip side of the boot rack should be closest to the cockpit, it is there to prevent the 50kgs of luggage hurtling forward in the event of an accident ... of course with all internet debates there are opposing views to this, but personally I'd value my safety above that of loosing the luggage onto the road, as it was tied on badly!))

50 kg's ....... eek

I wouldn't put more than 20 kg's max on that (not that I'd have one 'cause it's f***kin' ugly ! ) and then I'd restrict my speed to 40 mph for the very good reason you say...... I don't want a large sack of spuds hitting me in the back of the head at 50 mph if I have to stand on the brakes.

Ouch

Moto wink

OK 50kgs might be a bit much for Blackpool's finest fibreglass, but the principle still stands!!! smile

I must say that hard top looks good but it would look better on my 3000S ha ha ha, silver of course.
What red is that a Ford colour or maybe Lotus Carnival Red.

Alan is your 3000M in the 'model band' era??

If so would a cream band be something that you would consider, given the cream roof?

Hi David,
my 3000M is 1976 and to my knowledge has never had a cream band. But later when the paint is rubbed down who knows.
It's funny you ask the question because when i bought the car i asked the same question to the vendor. He said he had owned the car since Oct 1981 and he was proud to say it has never had a Starsky and Hutch stripe. ha ha ha.
Do you think they look better with a stripe

Can do depends on the colour combo though, its all very personal taste...

Green/Cream, Red Cream and a Mid Blue/Cream can look good with a cream vinyl roof

But darker colours look better with no vinyl roof, eg brown, burgendy, BRG, black, dark blue etc

all in IMHO...!!!....

Steve Knox (Godfrey Gordon Gustopher Gore) sent me this asking if i would add to the tread as he is in Singapore without his PH Password.
and he obviously left the door open? see if anyone can work out the door connection to the name in brackets.
His car was brown before he did it in Subaru WRX Blue

Ugly or not thats a matter of opinion as its an option often fitted on a car with limited storage i wanted the option, however i wanted strength as well.So in order to maintain the integrity of the car i had a spare boot made and added extra strength into the one with the rack.
Then both boots are set up with hinges so its a 5 min job to switch three bolts if you include the strut which is left off when using the rack as there is no need and would not be strong enough.
The intention is to only use for bulky light items such as tent sleeping bags and coat bag as this takes up valuable space in the boot etc when two people are heading off on events.
I preferred the look that way round and yes some would have said do it the other way however many racks dont even have a lip so immaterial as far as i was concerned.
As for the new Rubber bumpers in a way i prefer my stainless ones which i will probably switch back to at some point when i re fabricate the front ones as i was not happy with the fit but nice to have the option.
The intention was to get the car to the point for the 3000s 40th Birthday next year to have all three options from hard top to soft top and cover the rack and non rack boot and side screen custom covers so all options are covered.
Just waiting on the screen bags and its all done.
