Was there a thread on here some time ago by some one who had their badges restored? From memory the badge was re-chromed and the groves filled with resin. Anyone remember that? The 'Search' function has drawn a blank.

Leven technology did mine.
They totally refurbished them and filled them with clear resin giving a smooth finish, much easier to keep clean.

I did and spoke to a very helpful guy who explained their process. They use a traditional glass enamel process rather than the resin which I think the Leven process used. With original TVR badges the paint and chrome plating is removed and the cavities are filled with fired glass enamel leaving the glass and the metal the same height. The badge is then polished and either chrome or gold plated. It's more expensive than the resin process at £100 per badge so with three badges needing refurbishing it adds up to a big bill, although it sounds like you get what you pay for. Anyway, I've booked mine in for November (they have a nine month lead time) and we'll see how the money goes.

They also make new TVR badges which are CNC machined from blanks, studs are fusion welded to the rear and then enameled and plated.

Another one for Pamela Davies Enamels - excellent. My Leven refurbed ones, good as they looked, didn't last

I've been wondering if it might be better to have some new ones made instead of refurbishing the old ones. The new ones could be made fractionally larger to cover the "scar" or shadow left when removing the originals.

I've made some oversize templates to test the idea...

0.75mm oversize will definitely work but the closer to the original size I can get the better. This picture shows the badge with a +0.5mm margin.

I doubt anyone would notice this oversize and it hides the "scar" nicely.

I'll speak to Pamela David during the week and post up the outcome for any one who might be interested.

There's no poll tax payable for February and March so maybe this where the money will go thumbup

When Pamela Davies were refurbing mine they found that the rear 'Chimaera 500' badge wasn't up to refurbing so they made me a new one and sent the original back as well. All for the same price. You'll find they want to wait until May or June when they have sufficient numbers to do your badges, at least they did with me, but it was worth the wait.

Yes they can make the badge slightly oversize to cover the "scar".

laugh November!

It could have been a month or two sooner but there's no point in taking the badges off the car when I'm using it.
