Ignition Amp Wiring Routing

Hi Guys,

On my 93 Pre-serp the wiring has been messed about with a lot, one that's a real mess is the White/black wire going from the ignition amp to the ECU. The bare single wire is snaked around under the throttle body and then taped up all the way to the AFM where it is wired into the resistor and then back down the loom, via a few spade connectors and a dodgy tape job.

I want to tidy it up but am not sure what the factory routing is from the amp to the ECU, can any body help?

You have the standard factory route. Nice it is not.

I would have to go out to the garage to check, but from memory, it is pretty much as you describe

Thanks guys, mine definitely looks a bit off. The wire was bare with a bit of old crispy insulation tape around it in places and then had been joined in a couple of places with spade terminals! I think I might reroute it round the other side with the rest of the ignition wiring.

When the body was off I took the time to strip and rework my engine loom and did as you say to re-route that wire round the offside.
I also stripped back all the excess wire length that was in a messy bundle cable tied to the engine vent pipe running across to the plenum.

Yeah Steve, I think I've got plenty of wire to reroute that way as it currently goes all the way to the afm and back, will just need to find a spot for the resistor. I've got the top off to do the valley gasket at the moment so should have good access.
