Vixen Tachometer Mounting

OK, so here's a bit of a challenging question for all you Vixen geeks:-

I've re-assembled pretty much all of the dashboard on my Vixen project but I'm missing the knurled nut / threaded fastener that secures the 'U' bracket across the back of the unit thus holding it in place.

The threaded stud is bigger that all of the others, does anyone know what size / thread it is?
(Cortina Mk2 1600E tacho).

I think its a 2BA thread, but metric M5 will also work

For me i think the metric one that will work is M6. I think mine is from a speedo and maybe on the smaller Dials it's M5.

Can you measure the OD of the thread?

That looks like 2BA which is o/dia .185" = 4.7mm
You could double check with a screw pitch gauge it's about 0.8mm pitch.
I would say if a metric pitch gauge 0.8mm follows the thread form it is safe to confirm it is 2BA

As previously suggested, 2BA, or M5 at a push
Using metric dimensions to compare:
2BA: OD 4.70mm, Pitch 0.81mm
M5: OD is typically 4.85mm, Pitch 0.8mm
M5 nut will feel noticeable sloppy if the stud is in fact 2BA.
Edit: You beat me to it while I was measuring the actual diameter of an M5, Alun!
