2500 wheel well depth

I'm in the midst of piecing my 2500 back together, and have just made a discovery that has me scratching my head.
When I put my rear wheels on a couple of days ago I noticed the left protruded noticeably further out of the wheel well than the left. I pulled the wheels and did some measuring to discover that the right wheel well is 9.75 inches deep at the centre of the wheel well above the axle.The other side is 10.5 in. Has any one else ever come across this? Did they drop this one out of the mold or what?
No history of accident, or sign of fibreglass repair. I'm the third owner who acquired it last rear from the p.o. who had stripped it down in 1980 to redo. It sat buried in his storage unit until I talked him out of it last summer!

Slacken/remove body mounting bolts and see if it will move a bit on the chassis?

I’ve seen this before on Vixen bodied cars and was led to believe it’s not uncommon.

Wheel arch to inner arch are 1 to 1.5 inch different per side on all vixen body styles. this is totally normal.
When you start measuring datums you realise just how far the shell differs from side to side...

Measure the rear light cluster and you will see that the RHS one is about 3/4 inch lower than the left..

All part of the joys of owning a hand built car.

Yup normal there are differences side to side on the body if you measure from door pillar to rear of car there is a quarter of an inch either side difference as well on the MK2 on cars i have never checked the MK1s but probably the same

Wow! Thanks for the input guys. Now I'll be able to sleep again knowing this is "normal"! Glad I found this forum....info and other owners are spread pretty thin on this side of the pond!

Good one...just a tech challenged Canadian! Also it's easier to work on hanging from the ceiling!
