If it's true, it must be very rare for a car to have been with one owner and tested every year. I know there are one owner cars out there hidden away in various states of disrepair or even in bits but one that saw almost continuous use is unusual.[url]

Just fantastic that it's a one owner car from new with every bit of paperwork included and never restored !
The bonnet story is probably as simple as a small prang and new bonnet required. I bet the factory would have supplied the later bonnet as it was probably current at the time required and therefore available off the shelf.
Great car that will hopefully be maintained so it never needs to be restored by future owners.

You're right of course. But if it is possible to keep it as it came out the factory through ongoing careful ownership, then in my idilic mind it would be nice to preserve its originality.Moto

some comments:
red overspray on drivers door gasket...original condition? no way
enginebay: horn and cooling fan sprayed with Waxoyl, die fan-blade sprayed yellow inSitu, even the fan-shaft and hub are full with yellow overspray, Waterpump pulley and its screws (hand)painted inSitu
even the washer-hose shows some black/grey overspray
SU carbs are missing the overflow pipes, so fuel would directly drip on the exhaust manifold with all neg. consequences.
who drives a car with such a risk-potential? was this car driven recently? or maybe its a garage-queen?
