Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find anything?
What torque setting are you using on wishbones to chassis bolts?

Not ready to tighten them yet, but thought I'd ask while I think about.

I don’t think there are any cast in stone figures, although there’s bound to be someone who comes along after I’ve written this to say categorically there is and they’re critical.

Just don’t tighten them with the suspension on droop on stands.

About wheel nut tight is ok.

I do mine with the springs off and make sure the wishbones can still travel after tightening, but I’m not using rubber type bushes.

I also don't think there's definitive torques settings. Wheel nut tight seems a bit too tight to me as the chassis lugs don't want to be bent inwards as faces may then wear during rotation.

I think you should be able to go with your gut when tightening. Don't bend lugs, keep wishbone rotation smooth but without any excess play. Use nylocs so don't come undone over time and re-check after assembly once you've put a few hundred miles on the car.

I agree with you, and while I’m sure none of us are obsessive (cough cough), the chart is handy. Besides, or maybe I should say pedantically, the bushings have steel tube inserts.

I'll open the bidding :-)

For what it's worth, mine are torqued to 40Nm (8.8 lubed fasteners). Probably a little snug for the application and I'm open to be corrected!

there are tables existing which gives you a specific torque to each bolt-size & thread-pitch...this originates from mechanical-engineering.

those standards are valid also for automotive-industry

most important, for any moving suspension parts using the original rubber-bushing: only torque them with the wheels on the ground and the suspenson has moved for a certain times.
