This was our recent gathering - told this is the most TVR’s in the one photo in the Southern Hemisphere - mine was missing but Pascal’s yellow Tuscan is on the right. Running 345 wides at the rear !!

I know a little about getting wet as well
Pic of proper getting wet LOL. I watch the V8 supercars all season and at pukekohe, thought they went to Hampton as well

Yes that does look moist.

The V8’s just do one round in NZ and it’s Puke. We host the Australian Endurance Series at Hampton - maybe it was it you saw.

Does anyone know how to contact Tim Davis - I might see if he has a homologation certificate for that raised hoop? Save me a lot of time

Hi George

Here is the link to the TVR that Tim currently has for sale on pistonheads. There is a way of contacting him through there.

Mrs Hui

PS. Does Carl Hansen still race his TVR?

Thank you - I will try that

Carl hasn’t been out this season - not sure why tbh. You can check out his website here and see a few video’s as well

Actually that makes sense - I’m going to take a look at that tomorrow. I didn’t think there would be 50 mm in it but anything would help. You know the car Perry - I bought it off you lol
i've had height issues on mine with the std homologated cage and hoop.

I've found seat choice and lowering it the best way.

the lowest i found was to weld plates across the bottom of the chassis rail and bolt a Kirkey alloy seat to those places. that gets your bum below the top of the chassis rails..

the kirkey isnt fia, and i've now changed to a tillet fia seat, which has come in about 10mm higher..

my seat is bolted directly on top of the outrigger so I've already taken that height out - I'll have a look at your suggestion Graham - presumably the seat you mention is on feet as if it was fixed by a bottom rail mount it would still be on top of the outrigger?

The Bottom rail mount will fit inside the outrigger tubes what ever seat you choose I would think as I have just fitted a FIA Corbau Revenge into mine.

We must have different outrigger patterns - the outside would fit but not the inside

You can see from the picture that my rail would sit on top of the inside bars

Gents Do I have a different pattern?

Check out where the seat side squabs end up against the cage side bars.
I lowered my seat alot in my TVR and it was a pain sorting a position where tge seat would actually fit in the cage at tge seats widest point.
Lowering is the best way though.

Have you got a metal floor welded in there?

it take it that photo is from the bottom of the car looking up from underneath...

All the cars i've seen have a grp floor and thats generally cut about to get the seat lower.. in my seat my bum is lower than the top of the chassis rails.. and level with the bottom of the chassis rails as i have plates welded to the bottom.

i cant quite figure out where that it but i have no diagonal bracing under the floor in mine. just a tube at the front and the back going from center to out side at 90o and one in the middle and then a brace for the pedal box at the front.

so i can fit the seat between the center chassis and the outrigger

Hi G,
That picture is from underneath looking up. I put the thin steel under my seats to stop any intrusion from under the car. George as Graham has said a few cars don't have the diagonal braces and could be cut out as it is only in the out rigger section , they would have been put in to aid making the car stiffer at some point I would think but dought they do much. neither of my two current cars have that diagonal bracing.. The steel plate I would have put in so that can easily be cut out aas well . weld two 50mm flat plate to under side of outriggers going front to back to pick up seat mounting holes and sort out the crutch strap anchor points when you have done that all you do is re fibre glass the floor in again with the drain holes for water.

hope that helps

Thanks gents that’s very helpful. Looks like i’ll Be getting out the grinder and the welder over the weekend!! The GrP floor in the car is already cut through and the steel plate you can see is welded to the top of the outrigger. I should get 25mm - 30mm which at the bottom will be worth a lot more than at the top if my Form 2 trigonometry serves me well. Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks for that Perry - very helpful. Hopefully I can get on a hoist next week and get it sorted. Mr Gamsby is on the case. I struggle a bit to understand quite why I have such an issue as you're taller than me I recall. Anyway...onward

My cars have all had box section welded in running front to back, spaced apart so that a seat mounted on flat plates at each side will slot between them and bolt through. That way you can get the bottom of the seat right down between the chassis tubes. I’d have a piece of GRP or carbon that I’d attach underneath - or in my Sagaris a honeycomb floor that bolted on the underside.

The box section would be pre drilled to allow some fore and aft adjustment of the seat on the mounts. The factory race department used to sell the seat mounting plates, but simple enough to make out of 5mm Ali.
