Anyone know any more about Malcolm Cracknell leaving TMS?

No, just what I've learned from the forum. All sounds a bit fishy, though. He took a week off because he was "tired" after the season, and then everything went pretty quiet.

Tim Blake has said there'll be an anouncement later in the week.

It's a real shame because - and I hope you'll agree - TMS was the best site on the web for GT/sportscar racing across the globe. I'd love to know what really happened.

I didn't realise that Malcolm no longer had the controlling interest in the site.

I've exchanged a couple of emails with him as I'd love to explore the possibilities of getting him involved with PistonHeads. Not surprisingly he's taking stock currently and no doubt reviewing his options.

I get the impression whoever does control TMS made some promises regarding making money out of the website, something which is notoriously difficult of course!

I've been a fan of TMS since it was sportscarworld.com, no one else covered the world of endurance racing in a more professional or comprehensive manner.

It looks like there was a clash of opinions over the direction the website should take - continue concentrating on sportscars or to broaden to cover more touring cars and F1.

Hopefully Malcolm and his team can start again with a third domain-name for the 2002 season.

Shame that Malcolm didn't retain control of things himself. He must be a bit cheesed at having to start up for a third time.

That of course is the other problem - finding a suitable name!

Hi everyone,

from what I know Malcolm has decided to stay "in business" somehow - my guess is that he will either set up a web site of his own (sportscar/GT only, just like the old SCW), or contribute to existing sites. TMS will continue as well, and expand to cover THE WORLD of motor racing - whether they can give us the same in-depth, high quality coverage we have gotten used to, remains to be seen. I have my doubts but I wish them luck. TMS has certainly fallen pretty quiet ever since Mr. C left.

Indeed, hopefully there'll be some colaboration between DailySportsCar and PistonHeads in the months to come which should benefit readers of both publications.
