Phelan File #1

Wayne Phelan recalls Monday's Tuscan race from the driver's seat. Flying bodywork was only part of the fun...

Unlucky mate. I know all to well how DNF's feel. You'll be pleased to know that you clumped the tyre wall right in front of me at Quarry! I thought you'd come for a chat

Still - better luck at Donny. I made a good start there this year and I hope you do too.

Good to see you after 10 years or so!

NO:5, look and learn, you must have written 2000 words, and taken 4 hours to set it out, let me re-write it for you!!!

Got there, went out, wheel fell off, walked back. Went out again, bonnet flew off, understeered back, great fun ,went home. Now whats wrong with that???? see you at Castle D mate, the car in front is!!!!! 29 again.

Hi Chris,

Good to see you too. Didn't really get much time to catch up.

Maybe at the next one?.

Cheers

Wayne

Rod,

You know I hate it when you're right!

Next time... :-)
The car passing you is a new-bonneted Tuscan!

Excellant report and I know we've all been there with that last second decision to move or stay-put when a fellow competitor decides to come across you. I've seen the grass at Brands a few times as a result ;-)

My comment was about your black and orange flag. As far as I remember you don't get the choice as to whether to continue or not. The black flag with orange disk is a compulsary stop within 3 laps. I had the misfortune to ignore one at Oulton Park and narrowly missed a talk with the CotC and licence endorsement. So I guess you were lucky that you decided to stop anyway?

Good luck in the next race.

Oh Blimey... just checked the rule book

"The car concerned must call at its pit for repairs on the next lap".

I knew that!!!!!

... honest....

Sorry Wayne, it was all my girlfriends fault. We were at Quarry all day and every time she decided which car she'd cheer on, the next thing you'd hear would be a screech of tyres and/or a sickening crunch.
After reading your first article on here I told her to cheer for you - big mistake, sorry!

I am planning to start racing in the next year or two, suffice to say she won't be attending any race I'm in.

Mark,

... the bill is £....

oh go on, pay it for me... honest it's a great way to get used to what racing's like... I'm so kind!!

Thanks for cheering me on though.

What type of racing will you be going for?... hopefully Tuscans??

See you at Donington (bring your girlfriend, I'm not superstitious... touch wood)!!

Tuscans? I'm not made of money you know! Looking to race something Seven like (Caterhan / Westie / Locost) but I'll have to look into repair work costs if Mandy (the g/f) is coming to watch.

response from Mandy to the "I'm not suspicious" quote - Not superstitious !! He will be if I go and cheer him on again !!

Good luck at the weekend!
