The Official Chinese GP Thread 2012***SPOILERS***
Discussion
Only a week away now.
Last year Lewis managed to get the lead right at the end, Webber had a brilliant drive from the back to the podium and Jenson had an early dice with Lewis.
Will the McLarens be the ones to beat here?
Was the Ferrari's pace a one off due to the conditions in Malaysia?
How many times will EJ try and link Perez to Ferrari on the live BBC coverage?
Did I mention the live BBC coverage this weekend?

This waiting is agony
Feels worse than waiting for the season start

I hate these 3 week intervals, although I'd be happy to wait if Bahrain was cancelled.
Anyway,my prediction for the race result is.
1. Lewis
2. Jenson
3. Fred
I'd like to put a Mercedes in the top 3,they have a good, quick car,but they always seem to drop off the pace during the race.

It will be interesting to see if anyone predicts a RB on the podium.1. Lewis

MB engine power, all 3.

I admire your optimism! But unless the boys in red have been working their Easter holidays (which I'm sure they probably have!) that car has still got along way to to develop.
His last result was fantastic, but also just as much down to circumstance as it was driver skill.
I'm more concerned about where Massa is going to finish.

I'm going to go for:
Button
Hamilton
Vettel
I think it's going to rain and if Button hadn't run into Karthikeyan in Malaysia I think he would have won.
I think Perez and Alonso will be strong again (rain always flatters cars which are of mediocre performance but which are driven well)
Massa will be poor come rain or shine and Rosberg - ad ever - will flatter to deceive. He will be super quick in free practice, average in qualifying and downright poor from about lap 3 onwards in the race

Aren't Ferrari bringing a load of aero updates to China ? I read somewhere they had been copying Saubers bodywork around the bottom/read of the sidepods..
I'd think they'll wait until Barcelona for the big step. Bringing huge piles of new aero bits out to China is horrendously expensive, especially if they don't work.DanDC5 said:
I'm predicting Jenson, Lewis and Kimi for the podium. I think he'll have the 'normal' race he needs this weekend and we'll see the his and the cars true race pace.
You're being a bit optimistic with Kimi,i think.I reckon we will see him up there, but maybe not quite this early in the season.Pat Fry has said that the red car is 0.8 seconds off (with an Alonso driving, at least) and the rain flattered the car last time out. They'll have some upgrades in China then a big upgrade in Spain. Unless it rains again, I can't see Fred doing much http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98686
McLarens and Seb on the podium.
McLarens and Seb on the podium.
Ferrari apparently bringing 5 updates to the race with (as someone predicted above) a bigger update in Spain, seems to be a case of when they can get an update out of the factory they are sticking it on the car.
Saw a tweet this morning that teams are starting to arrive to heavy rain, if that continues maybe alonso can pull another blinder ? Forecast looks a bit dismal : http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/1796236
