I watched the Sky feed for the first time today, with the GP2 coverage beforehand.

I much preferred it, didn't find the commentating irritating and didn't have to avoid various news outlets afterwards. I've missed Brundle, a lot!

Not such a fan of the Georgie Thompson touch-TV gimmick bits, but they weren't for long in the scheme of things.
The touch TV thing didn't really have a lot to do this weekend, but it has shown some interesting stuff this year, for example there was a slow-mo close up of Webber's overtake on Alonso at Eau Rouge last year, and as Webber began to close rapidly on Alonso and most of us watching on TV were hiding behind cushions expecting an aircraft accident, Webber not only had his foot welded to the floor, but, just as he pulled out of Alonso's slipstream, missing his rear wheel by inches, he changed up to 7th...

Don't really understand why people have it in so badly for Sky. Big deal they're a massive corporation owned by a bellend, so is just about everyone else. If you don't want to pay for Sky then I'm sure with Virgin (mind you, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole) or whatever there are ways of getting Sky's F1 channel cheaper, it's certainly bloody worth it.

I thought Lazenby was a bit awkward at first almost like he was trying too hard to fit in but he seems to have got the hang of it now, much better than Cumfrey. I prefer Herbert to Hill, would be nice to see him at a few more races, he seems a lot more interested and enthusiastic than Damon. So considering the race coverage is the same as last years BBC coverage I dont see how it can be worse?

Whilst I do agree that it is an expense I could do without in today's World it is about the same cost per month as a good round of drinks for you and a feww mates to get F1 for the year and you get a free video recorder thrown in for free.

A few weeks back I bought a couple of fast food meals for a mate an I. Nearly £20 for a couple of big burgers, fries and a drink and that was without really trying. Now that is a rip off as all you have left to show for that is a grease stain and the squits.

If they are both really fit, maybe they could have a race and see who is fitter?

To be clear, this season we are enjoying:

- More races than ever before
- More expansive TV coverage than ever before
- Unprecedented reliability meaning a greater number of finishers than ever before
- More World Champions on the grid than ever before
- A generally higher level of driver calibre than ever before
- More overtaking than I can recall within a lifetime
- Q3 field covered by 1 second
- Best qualifying format in the sport's history
- 4 different winners in 4 different cars in the first 4 races

Crikey, in the 25 years I've been watching the sport I can't recall us ever having it this good. I'm off to Spa and Monza this year and cannot wait to get trackside again to enjoy the races in person.

Oh and who was saying Vettel couldn't race? I'm sorry but I simply don't buy that one bit. I would cite:

- Barcelona 2011
- Monza 2011
- Spa 2011
- Melbourne 2012

For example of absolutely world-class overtaking manoeuvres.

So which live coverage of the Bahrain race was better - Sky or BBC?

It all depends on how much of a priority you give to live sports coverage. If it is all that matters to you, then you aren't really goibng to consider other aspects of teh coverage as that important,

If being live isn't all that vital, then you might perhaps take some time to assess other aspects of the coverage.

For me, good quality, insightful and thoughtful highlights trumps mediocre live coverage.

But personal preferences will vary between individuals.

In this case we have good quality live coverage vs good quality highlights. So I will take the live coverage.

I think the Sky coverage wins on those points too though, this year at least.

A reasonable position. For me missing chunks of the race and driver positions jumping around inexplicably isn't enjoyable. The racing is hard enough to follow live, much less when three laps disappear with no explanation or warning.

Richard Porter is slightly more eloquent than me in describing this: http://community.evo.co.uk/users/Richard-Porter/bl...

I can see his popint and agree with a lot of what he says.

However, we have been so spoiled fort so long that I am happy to watch F1 however I can - and I am old enough to remember the days when we got no coverage.

my interest has gone down a little now compared to last year as i'm only viewing it on the BBC. the highlights aren't too bad, sometimes a little difficult to follow just because you miss out sometimes on the running order so when it cuts to a midfield battle you have no idea where these guys are.

also, last year i used to have my laptop on during most races with live timing and driver tracker up. you can't do that with highlights. still, now i've got more free time so it's not all bad. just a bit of a pain avoiding any media until i watch the highlights (which often as i'm not watching them live anyway, i'll record and watch on sunday evening).
