Reading about MG's latest test at Brands in the wet JP and AN both said the car feels much better. The Honda's just ran away in race 2 at Rockingham, It was clear from the start we didn't stand a chance. The team worked wonders for the 3rd race though and the gap was much smaller. I think we should be on good form at Silverstone and in with a real chance of winning whatever the weather.

1/2 a second faster than everyone else at Rockingham qualifying was a little strange though, can't seem to find a definitive answer if it was from the MG having more boost, It would explain Andy's above average performance in qualifying at least.

I think the final 6 rounds will be very close between the Honda's and MG. I wouldn't like to bet on who will take the championship just yet.

Rockingham's qualifying was in the dry. Maybe MG don't have a good wet set up yet?

More boost wouldn't make as much of a difference in wet conditions but a good chassis helps a lot. Which is why the Hondas were so fast at a "power" circuit.

lol.....'we'

Come on clearly if Neate was able to qualify in 6th the MG is clearly the car to be in, mainly cause ToCA ruin Honda so Plato dosent run off crying with his TV personality ball....
Neate is beyond usless, so he noway on this earth a top 6 driver unless his car is just borked to be better than others...

Hoping to get to this meeting, even if it's 3hrs+ drive away.

Will be cheering on Rob Austin's team as usual! If Neal and Shedden can shut up Plato, even better.

If you actually looked at the speed traps the mg was only 1mph faster than the hondas and haven't recieved any more boost since the last round. Also the mg is the 2nd slowest cars in the speed traps with only honda below it the fords are 5mph quicker yet you don't go on about that or said anything about aron smith being able to stay in the top3 at knockhill with a quicker car.

Like him or not plato is a quick driver and can make anything fast and don't forget 888 who are one of the best btcc teams running the mg program just look how many titles they have had since 2000. The mg is a good car not because of the boost as you go on about but of the overall package just like the honda and look at the standings yes honda 1,2,4 and first in the teams standing so it's not being disadvantged that much.

Speed traps heh?

what about acceleration out of corners? Boost aint about top end speed! come on this is a car forum...its about torque etc etc... top speed means very little really compared to say having better boost lower down the range....

Well the speed trap at rockingham was set just after the start finish straight if as your are according right about the mg having more boost lower down the rev range then the car would be a good few mph ahead of the honda at the speed trap which is wasn't it was 1 mph and watching on the tv i didn't see it flying past the honda's coming out of the last corner.
One last point the mg has the 2nd lowest boost level in the field the engine is a swindon engine so it behaves the same as the vectra's so doesn't have the better lower down boost your talking about.

people always forget balast, including Plato when he moans about others having faster cars. After race one he had balast and it was wet.... the way he walked first race was cause his moaning works and toca want him to be happy so he stays on BTCC... he's pathetic.

I've just seen this tweet from thorney

@ThorneyMS: New driver for Insignia announced on Monday. Been in Btcc before, any guesses?

Ideas from PH?

I'm guessing at Tony Gillham, he's driven the car before and he's giving seat time to other people in his civic recently.

No chance. It won't be anyone like them or Thompson or O'Neill. It'll be somebody with a few quid to pay for it.
